Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Engineering Specialist for Enterprise Systems Engineering, onsite at its Chantilly, VA location. You will shape portfolio-level missions through enterprise architecture, system-of-systems thinking, and data-driven analyses in collaboration with government customers and program offices.

Responsibilities include leading MBSE initiatives, delivering technical recommendations, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience in systems engineering, enterprise systems engineering, model-based systems engineering, and/or digital engineering.
  • Familiar with MBSE modeling languages and tools (SysML, Cameo, SparX EA).
  • Willing to travel domestically ~5–10% and hold an active security clearance.

  • Drive enterprise architecture, system-of-systems engineering, and strategic planning that shapes portfolio-level missions.
  • Develop portfolio-level models and roadmaps to enable data-driven decisions across cross-organizational challenges.

  • Lead high-impact studies and deliver actionable recommendations to senior leadership and customers.

The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace’s strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The divisionleveragesa broad array of engineering disciplines against a wide-ranging and dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges.EEDspans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities.

As part of the Enterprise Design Subdivision (EDS), the Portfolio Analysis Department (PAD) drives responsive and comprehensive trades in customer portfolios. Working closely with corporate program offices PAD delivers portfolio decision insights that expand options for senior leaders and accelerates delivery of end effects. Strategic Impact & Leadership
  • Drive enterprise architecture, system-of-systems engineering, and strategic planning thatshapesportfolio-level missions and future landscapes

  • Develop portfolio-level models and roadmaps that enable stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions on complex, cross-organizational challenges

  • Bridge government organizations, internal strategic initiatives, and commercial partners to create cohesive solutions to enterprise-level problems

  • Challenge the status quo and pioneer innovative approaches to mission-critical problems

Technical Excellence
  • Lead high-impact studies designed to solve complex technical challenges and deliver actionable recommendations to senior leadership and customers

  • Provide enterprise engineering and analytical support in portfolio management, digital engineering, and systems engineering across defense, intelligence, and civil government domains

  • Identifyand develop new capabilities and enhancements that advance customer programs and architectures

  • Leverage Aerospace’s technical backplane to deliver tailored,cutting-edgesolutions for customer-specific use cases

Collaboration & Influence
  • Work closely with Aerospace program office personnel and government customers to lead and execute strategic projects

  • Provide ongoing technical consultation and strategic advice toprogram office,government, and contractors

  • Mentor and develop early career staff, shaping the next generation of technical leaders

  • Occasional travel may berequired

What You Need to be Successful

MinimumRequirements for the Engineering Specialist– Enterprise Systems Engineering

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or other related technical discipline

  • Typically,8 yearsofincreasingly responsibleexperienceinsystems engineering or other space-related engineering disciplines

  • Experience in systems engineering, enterprise systems engineering, model-based systems engineering, and/or digital engineering

  • Familiarwith MBSE modeling languagessuch as System Modeling Language(SysML)and toolssuch as Cameo Systems Modeler andSparXEnterprise Architecture

  • Experience with architecture frameworks such as the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)

  • Take initiative,haveflexibility,andbe ableto work in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellentinterpersonal skillsandwell adept at oral and written communication

  • Excellenttime managementand organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

  • Available and willing to travel domestically,approx. 5-10%

  • ActiveTS//SCIsecurity clearance

  • Experience with and/or working knowledge of the Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) span of technical capabilities and organizational construct

  • Experience briefing senior Government leaders (General Officer and/or SES/SIS)

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
