Job description

Systems Engineer (Expert-Level)

Mission Intelligence Group is seeking an experienced Expert-Level Systems Engineer to support some of the nation's most critical GEOINT missions. This position will play a key role in shaping, integrating, and advancing complex systems across the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System for Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and federal agency environments. The ideal candidate brings deep systems engineering expertise, strategic vision, and a proven ability to lead large-scale technical efforts across organizational boundaries.

Your Role

As an Expert-Level Systems Engineer, you will provide senior technical leadership across the full systems engineering lifecycle, helping government stakeholders transform mission needs into operational capabilities. You will guide requirements development, systems integration, architecture analysis, engineering assessments, and strategic technical planning while supporting complex GEOINT mission environments. This role requires the ability to operate at the enterprise level, influence major acquisition efforts, and mentor engineering teams across multiple programs and organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support systems engineering activities across NSG, ASG, and Federal Agency environments.
  • Advise government stakeholders on requirements engineering, solution design, integration strategies, and technical roadmaps.
  • Analyze and maintain traceability between user requirements, system architectures, and mission capabilities.
  • Evaluate cloud service capabilities, workflows, operational constraints, and scheduling limitations.
  • Translate mission and customer needs into actionable system and capability requirements.
  • Support requirements allocation across system architecture components and execution programs.
  • Perform and oversee systems integration, testing, evaluation, maintainability, and performance engineering activities.
  • Lead or support Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Courses of Action (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
  • Provide expertise in strategic technical planning, project management, risk management, and interface design.
  • Advise leadership on technology adoption, system modernization, and capability development initiatives.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of Senior-, Mid-, and Junior-level Systems Engineers.
  • Support integration efforts spanning organizational, agency, departmental, and national-level boundaries.

  • Previous NGA and/or NSG/ASG program experience.
  • Previous Intelligence Community (IC) or Department of Defense (DoD) program experience.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain SCI eligibility and successfully complete a polygraph.
