Job summary

Hormel Foods Corporation in Austin, MN is seeking a Systems Engineer to lead enterprise virtualization and storage initiatives. You will design, implement and support critical infrastructure that powers core business operations, collaborating across technology teams to drive platform roadmaps, DR, and security controls.

The role requires strong systems engineering experience, hands-on VMware expertise, storage networking knowledge, and the ability to work after-hours when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience administering VMware enterprise virtualization technologies (VCF, vCenter, NSX, SRM, vSphere Replication).
• Experience with physical/virtual servers, storage platforms, SANs, performance monitoring, replication, and DR.
• Knowledge of storage networking (Fibre Channel, iSCSI, multipathing, zoning, replication).
• Ability to analyze complex problems and lead projects; capable of after-hours support.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize enterprise virtualization, compute and storage platforms (VMware).
• Manage physical servers, storage, SAN fabrics, zoning, multipathing, and replication.
• Maintain secure, stable, highly available infrastructure per standards and vendor practices.
• Plan lifecycles, capacity, performance, upgrades, hardware refreshes, roadmaps.
• Develop and test data protection, business continuity, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex virtualization, storage, compute and performance issues.
• Evaluate technologies to improve reliability, security, and efficiency.
• Document procedures, security controls, and change management practices.
• Lead technical support and collaborate with infrastructure teams, vendors, and partners.
• Support infrastructure planning including operating and capital budgets.
