Job summary

Mclaurin Aerospace seeks a Systems Engineer - ECTS for NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. You will drive requirements, verification plans, and lifecycle analyses within a team delivering space hardware systems.

Strong leadership, extensive systems engineering expertise, and experience with DOORS/Jama/Cradle are highly valued. Expect collaboration across disciplines and ongoing liaison with NASA stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; 2–5+ years field experience.
  • Experience leading technical teams and complex system development (hardware/software).
  • Familiarity with NASA, DoD, or Aerospace environments and lifecycle processes.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, verification/validation, risk analysis, and lifecycle concepts.
  • Proficient communication across disciplines and ability to present to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, review, and maintain requirements and verification plans.
  • Prepare materials for SRR, PDR, and CDR lifecycle reviews.
  • Identify risks, craft risk statements, and plan mitigations.
  • Perform system-level architecture trades and analyses.
  • Manage requirements flow and interfaces between subsystems with DOORS/Cradle/Jama.
  • Collaborate in a team to report progress and resolve issues.
  • Maintain NASA customer relationships and support testing activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer - ECTS to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.

If Selected You Will
  • Be responsible for the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans.
  • Prepare materials for the system life cycle phasing, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR)
  • Work with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and to help them plan risk responses.
  • Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall system design and performance.
  • Utilize a requirements management software and systems engineering tool such as DOORS, Cradle or Jama.
  • Create and manage requirements for various projects – including flow down from NASA Program to contractor Project through verification closeout as well as interface definition between subsystems
  • Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and raise issues.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.
  • Support and/or participate in system testing
  • Perform other tasks assigned.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years or more of related experience; or 2 years of related experience with a related master's degree.
  • Experience leading technical teams
  • Experience designing and leading complex system development which includes both hardware and software configuration items
  • Experience leading development projects
  • Knowledge of the systems engineering process
  • Knowledge of the system lifecycle
  • Knowledge of the systems development lifecycle to include hardware and software development process
  • Understanding of the space system certification process
  • Understanding of Design for Sustainment methodology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across multiple disciplines
  • Knowledge and work experience in a Systems Engineering role in a NASA, DoD, or Aerospace environment.
  • Experience with requirements management, verification and validation definition and execution, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardware.
  • Experience with the concept development, concept of operation and operational concept definition, architecture definition, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications
  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification.
  • Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools.
  • Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes
  • Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines.
  • Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and share point sites as well as typical systems engineering software products.
  • Experience in technical or team leadership roles
