Job summary

Talented Training Ltd. is seeking a System Engineer to monitor and maintain complex UNIX/Linux environments and cloud-based infrastructure. You will install, configure, and test operating systems, support application stacks, and work with developers to improve performance and reliability.

The role requires hands-on experience with virtualization (VMware), containerization, automation tools, and strong scripting skills. Immediate start; full-time on-site in Lebanon, Kansas.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Experience in UNIX/Linux environments.
• Experience with web stacks (Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, NGINX).
• Cloud experience, preferably AWS.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware) and containers.
• Scripting skills (Shell, Perl, Ruby, Python).
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP).
• Experience with automation tools (Puppet, cfengine, Chef).

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
• Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
• Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
