In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our newer Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) facility in Clayton, NC sits on 825,000 square-feet of state-of-the-art equipment, and houses the Fermentation, Recovery and Purification in the production of ingredients for Novo Nordisk’s innovative oral products. The Position
Responsible for the operation, maintenance, administration and improvement of selected infrastructure systems & platform systems.
Relationships
Reports to Manager.
Essential Functions
- Evaluate existing supported virtualization and SAN systems and design proposed systems to ensure lifecycle management of those systems including new technologiesEnsure that installation, troubleshooting, qualification & validation of infrastructure systems meets local and regulatory requirementsCollaborate with team to design, build, & operate the overall Virtualization environment including storage & backup of data that meets stakeholder needsAssist in training team members to ensure coverage & business continuity through coaching and developing their knowledge and skill setServe as a primary support resource of IT platforms, providing Tier 2 and 3 support as defined in support modelMonitor systems & respond to IT incidentsServe in the team’s on call rotation and provide after-hours support to the site as required to support production needsEnsure IT systems are available, capable, and accessible to meet production & business requirementsDirect internal process changes as required to ensure secure and available systems to support production needsManage IT department projects and support other business unit projectsServe as SME during corporate and external agency auditsCollaborate with Global IT Infrastructure groupsSupport and practice IT SecurityComply with internal & external regulations & proceduresFollow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of dutiesOther accountabilities as assigned
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role.)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, Engineering, Automation, or relevant field of study from an accredited university required, with minimum of three (3) years of direct related experience included but not limited to System Administration or Engineering tasks, network infrastructure management, virtualization and cloud deployments, backup and disaster recovery processes, etc. requiredIn lieu of a minimum of three (3) years of direct related experience included but not limited to System Administration or Engineering tasks, network infrastructure management, virtualization and cloud deployments, backup and disaster recovery processes, etc, may consider a minimum of six (6) years of indirect experience included but not limited to process user or project work with no hands-on system workIn lieu of BS Degree and three (3) years of direct related experience or six (6) years of indirect related experience, may consider an Associate’s Degree in information technology, Engineering, Automation, or relevant field of study from an accredited college or university with a minimum of five (5) years of direct related experience or eight (8) years of indirect experience requiredIn lieu of BS Degree and three (3) years of direct related experience or six (6) years of indirect related experience, may consider a High School Diploma or equivalent with high level technical certifications (ex: Server and Virtualization certifications such VMWare Certified Professional, Citrix Certified Associate (CCA) – Virtualization (CCA-V), Microsoft Server and Virtualization Certifications, Linux Certifications, Cloud Certifications, Storage Solution Certifications, other Virtualization platform, General Network and Security Certifications) and a minimum of seven (7) years of direct related experience or ten (10) years of indirect related experience requiredKnowledge of Microsoft OS, Linux OS, Networking principles, and concepts of IT Security requiredExperience in System Monitoring Tools, Domain Services, Backup Solutions, Deployment of Virtualized Servers, Patch Management, and IT Security requiredCertification in an IT System Administration/Engineer discipline preferredStrong technical background in IT Infrastructure systems requiredExperience of using System Monitoring Tools, Domain Services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), Virtualization Platforms, Backup Solutions and Disaster Recovery Processes, System Patch Deployment Technologies, Communication Flows and Firewalls requiredAnalysing, troubleshooting, documenting, and resolving infrastructure and business system hardware, software and networking incidents requiredKnowledge of VMware vSphere (Version 6+) preferredEMC VPLEX Virtualized Storage Platform experience preferredEMC VNX, UNITY storage array experience preferredFibre Channel Network Design, Implementation & Operational experience (Brocade SAN Hardware) preferredBackup IT Utilities including operational experience (Veritas) preferredAutomated control systems and knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies a plus.GxP Pharmaceutical Environment Experience a plusDemonstrates good written & oral communication skills a plusDemonstrated ability to develop & maintain strong internal relationships preferredIT governance, including system and configuration management, business continuity & forecasting requiredKnowledge of IT systems analysis and Information System Security principles preferred
