Job summary

ACL Digital is hiring for a Systems Engineer to contribute to certification and delivery of airborne software components across global sites. You will help ensure compliance with safety standards and collaboration with suppliers to meet FAA/EASA requirements.

Responsibilities include developing and reviewing software life-cycle data, architectures, requirements and interfaces, and leading processes for verification and certification in alignment with DO-178B/C and DO-254 guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience with software development life cycles and agile software engineering best practices.
• Experience developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, interfaces and designs for software systems.
• Experience using common software version control tools such as Git or equivalent.
• Familiarity with aviation standards DO-178C and DO-254.

Responsibilities

• Generate software components (PDIs), UMS and/or Field Loadable software per modifications at aircraft level in compliance with DO-178B/C.
• Review and approve suppliers’ software lifecycle data throughout planning, requirements, development, verification and certification phases.
• Oversee compliance documentation for certification submissions and regulatory alignment.
• Collaborate with regulatory representatives, suppliers and global sites to ensure regulatory and internal standards compliance.
• Monitor project progress to ensure timely delivery and safety milestones.
• Lead activities to develop and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
• Lead process improvements, tooling, and metrics deployment; participate in industry groups and internal standards.

ACL Digital is hiring for Systems Engineer for a role in multiple locations.

Location- Washington & California

Description:

Within this role you will contribute to the mission of certifying and delivering safe and reliable airborne software components, in collaboration with our suppliers and global sites. You will ensure our aircraft not only meets but exceeds the rigorous safety standards set forth by the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and/or European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Position Responsibilities:

• Generate Software Components (PDIs), User Modifiable Software (UMS) and/or Field Loadable software in response to modifications requested at aircraft level in compliance with DO-178B/C
• Review and approve suppliers’ software lifecycle data (i.e. software architecture, software design document, software requirement document) throughout software lifecycle processes; from planning, requirements, development/implementation, verification and certification phases
• Oversee and verify the compliance preparation and submission of comprehensive technical documentation required for certification
• Work collaboratively and transparently with regulatory representatives, EUMs suppliers and global sites to ensure all systems and software designs comply not only with stringent regulatory requirements and safety standards but also with internal standards
• Monitor project progress and performance, ensuring that engineering solutions are delivered on time and meet all safety and certification milestones
• Perform and lead activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
• Lead development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
• Participate in industry working groups to develop industry guidance and standards as well as authoring internal design practice documentation and standards

Required Skills:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• Experience in software development life cycles, configuration management and agile software engineering best practices*
• Experience developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
• Experience using common software version control tools such as Git, or equivalent
• Experience with Agile planning tool such as JIRA, GITLAB, or similar
• Domain expertise in either Interior Cabins, Seats, In Flight Entertainment systems or Onboard Network Systems
• Experience with Aviation Standards DO-178C and DO-254 – must have requirement
