Job description

Koniag Professional Services, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Systems Engineer with a TS/SCI eligible security clearance to support KPS and our government customer in Washington, DC.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, paid parental leave, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, commuter benefits and tuition reimbursement.

Koniag Professional Services (KPS) is seeking a high-performing SETA System Engineer to support acquisition transition and program support activities within Joint Operational Integration (JOI) under DASW Acquisition Integration and Interoperability (AI2). This individual will provide technical engineering expertise supporting acquisition planning, systems integration, requirements development, and lifecycle management activities. This position works closely with Government leadership, program managers, acquisition professionals, and technical stakeholders to ensure engineering efforts support mission objectives while complying with Department of War (DoW) systems engineering policies and acquisition best practices. The System Engineer provides technical analysis, evaluates system performance, and supports the successful integration of emerging technologies into acquisition programs. The ideal candidate is a strategic operator and builder — someone comfortable stepping into a newly forming organization, integrating into structure where little exists, and helping shape transition efforts from prototype through enterprise integration. This role is best suited for a highly collaborative system engineer who can bridge operational, acquisition, and technical communities while driving execution forward.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide systems engineering expertise throughout the DoW acquisition lifecycle, including requirements development, system design, integration, testing, fielding, and sustainment.
  • Support new and evolving engineering activities to ensure technical solutions align with mission requirements and acquisition objectives.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and validating system requirements, technical specifications, interface requirements, and performance criteria.
  • Ensure engineering requirements are traceable, achievable, and consistent with operational needs.
  • Evaluate engineering alternatives, system architectures, technical risks, and implementation strategies to support informed Government decision-making.
  • Perform technical assessments of proposed capabilities, technologies, and engineering solutions.
  • Coordinate with program managers, contractors, functional stakeholders, and technical teams to support system integration and interoperability across multiple programs.
  • Identify integration challenges and recommend technical solutions that minimize program risk.
  • Develop and review engineering documentation, technical reports, system specifications, engineering assessments, and decision support materials.
  • Ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, and consistent with program objectives.
  • Identify engineering risks affecting cost, schedule, technical performance, cybersecurity, and system integration.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and provide recommendations that improve program execution.
  • Provide recommendations regarding adoption of new technologies and engineering methodologies.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable DoD systems engineering guidance, cybersecurity requirements, acquisition policies, and technical standards.
  • Support technical reviews, audits, milestone activities, and engineering assessments.
  • Collaborate with Government leadership, acquisition professionals, contractors, and technical organizations to resolve engineering issues and support successful program execution.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), technical reviews, and engineering working groups.
  • Prepare engineering analyses, executive briefings, technical recommendations, and status reports supporting Government leadership.
  • Communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences while supporting acquisition and program management decision-making.
  • Track action items, risks, milestones, and dependencies across program activities
  • Support synchronization between acquisition, operations, experimentation, and interoperability efforts
  • Identify process improvements and help establish scalable PMO governance practices
Desired Qualifications:
Required:
  • TS/SCI eligible
  • Experience supporting DoD acquisition, program management, or transition activities
  • Familiarity with prototype-to-production/program-of-record transition processes
  • Ability to operate independently in ambiguous or emerging mission environments
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience coordinating across multiple organizations and functional teams
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
  • Experience supporting OSD, Joint Staff, SCO, or AI2-related initiatives
  • Knowledge of DoW acquisition lifecycle and transition pathways
  • Familiarity with interoperability, experimentation, and operational integration efforts
  • Experience building or standing up new PMO/team structures
  • Experience with Confluence, Jira, MS Teams, and executive reporting environments
  • INCOSE CSEP certification
