L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer - Control Systems Analysis in the Missile Solutions Missile Propulsion sector. You will lead modeling and analysis of control systems for solid propulsion and throttling rocket technologies, coordinating with avionics and software teams to ensure mission-aligned performance.

The role requires a strong background in propulsion controls, Matlab/Simulink and C/C++, plus ability to mentor engineers and support hardware/software requirements.

Qualificações

  • Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in engineering relevant to aerospace or propulsion.
  • Approx. 9+ years in Systems Engineering or Analysis; 3 years in control system analysis.
  • Active US Secret clearance preferred; post-test data analysis experience a plus.
  • Experience with propulsion controls, design, integration and testing.

About The Role

The Lead Systems Engineer - Control Systems Analysis at L3Harris Technologies is a critical role within the Missile Solutions Missile Propulsion sector. This position involves leading the modeling and analysis of control systems for solid propulsion and throttling rocket technologies. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in control systems, propulsion, and software development to support ongoing and future development programs. Responsibilities include actuation system modeling, steady-state and transient performance analysis, and supporting hardware and software requirements development. This role also entails coordinating with avionics and software engineering teams, supporting propulsion system testing, and analyzing test data to ensure system performance aligns with mission requirements. Mentoring and training early-career engineers are also key aspects of this leadership position, fostering a knowledgeable and capable team dedicated to innovation and excellence.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with a minimum of 9 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Analysis experience. Alternatively, a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of experience or a minimum of 13 years of experience without a degree will also be considered. Approximately 3 years of control system analysis experience is required. Candidates should have proficiency in Matlab/Simulink, C/C++, control theory, and propulsion theory. Experience with propulsion systems, including controls, design, integration, and testing, is highly desirable. An active US Secret Security Clearance is preferred, along with expertise in post-test data analysis. Candidates with a background in propulsion system controls and hardware/software integration will be prioritized. A strong understanding of test planning, data analysis, and system modeling is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Lead modeling and analysis of actuation systems, including steady-state and transient performance assessments.
  • Develop and validate control system models using Matlab/Simulink and C/C++ programming languages.
  • Support the development of rocket propulsion hardware and software requirements, including internal requirements allocation and documentation.
  • Assist in propulsion system testing activities, including test plan and procedure development, pre-test predictions, and integration of electronic test support equipment.
  • Collaborate with avionics and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
  • Perform detailed analysis of test data to evaluate system performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Mentor and train early-career team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Travel up to 10% for offsite testing activities and technical meetings.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing technical expertise and innovative solutions to complex system challenges.
