Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Software Engineer in Austin, TX, with 5+ years of experience to design and build secure authentication systems for enterprise web apps. You will work on Passwordless Login, Risk-Based Authentication, and REST/microservices, collaborating with product, security, and engineering teams.

You will use Spring Boot, CI/CD, and modern web frameworks to deliver scalable solutions, while maintaining code quality, security, and robust testing practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience with Java, JavaScript, and Angular.
• Experience building secure web applications and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and service-based architectures.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Karma, Cucumber, or similar tools.
• Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or comparable databases.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and secure coding practices.
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools such as Splunk or Grafana.
• Understanding of OAuth, SAML, JWT, and modern authentication technologies.
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.

About the Role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Middleware and Online Security Technology team. In this role, you will design, develop, and support secure authentication solutions for enterprise web applications, including Passwordless Login and Risk-Based Authentication. You will work closely with product, security, fraud, architecture, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and user-friendly identity solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Passwordless Authentication, FIDO2, WebAuthn, or Passkeys.
• Knowledge of Risk-Based Authentication and adaptive access controls.
• Experience deploying applications to AWS, GCP, or similar cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and security tools such as GitHub Actions, Sonar, Veracode, or Black Duck.
• Knowledge of NIST identity standards.
• Experience in performance testing and optimization.
• Experience applying AI-assisted development practices within enterprise environments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $67.00 - $69.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
