Job summary

SOSi is seeking a Systems Engineer in Honolulu to shape Command and Control IT solutions at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam. You will support over 5,000 users across the Pacific, building a robust enterprise infrastructure and private cloud while aligning with ZTA and data-centric security principles.

You will collaborate with DoD personnel, deliver executive briefings, and mentor operations staff, with a focus on complex projects, cyber security, and 24/7 readiness when required.

Qualifications

  • Active in-scope TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility and US passport.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT / information systems / cyber security / computer engineering and 5+ years in enterprise IT or 9+ years in DoD environments.
  • 5+ years server administration experience with Microsoft or Linux services (Exchange, AD, DNS, DHCP, SQL).
  • DoD 8570 IAT-II compliant (Security+ CE, CCNA, CND, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC or SSCP).
  • Server Administration certification at hire and ability to obtain Windows Server Hybrid Admin or RHCSA within 6 months.
  • Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructure and NSA CSfC requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, design, and roadmap ZTA solutions implementation or integration.
  • Assess, design, and roadmap Data Centric Security solutions.
  • Provide technical recommendations and briefings to customer leadership on ZTA and new capabilities.
  • Interact with vendors, agencies, and coalition partners for the program.
  • Lead complex projects including upgrades, integrations, and other installations.
  • Mentor Systems Operations personnel in administration principles and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems and maintain current knowledge of relevant hardware/software.
  • Prepare After-Action-Reports and WAR status updates.

SOSi is on the hunt for a forward-thinking Systems Engineer to help shape the future of Command and Control (C2) IT solutions at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam. You’ll be part of a high-impact team supporting over 5,000 users across the Pacific theater, solving complex technical challenges that drive mission-critical operations.

In this role, you’ll lead the charge in developing and maintaining a robust enterprise infrastructure and private cloud platform. You’ll collaborate with senior DoD personnel, deliver executive-level briefings, and ensure compliance with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and Data Centric Security Principles.

Essential Job Duties
  • Assess, design, and roadmap development for the implementation or integration of ZTA solutions.

  • Assess, design, and roadmap development for the implementation or integration of Data Centric Security solutions.

  • Contribute, provide technical recommendations, and attend briefings or information sharing forums, with our customer and the leadership, in support of ZTA initiatives and new capabilities.

  • Interact with vendors, other agencies, and Coalition Partners on behalf of the program.

  • Lead complex technical projects including upgrades, system integrations, and other installations in support of existing Enterprise capabilities.

  • Provide mentorship for Systems Operations personnel in administration principles and best practices.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems.

  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.

  • Reviews work efforts/implementations and contributes to analysis, After-Action-Reports (AAR). Regularly collects and summarizes pertinent network-related accomplishments, issues, and concerns. Completes activity reports in accordance with contract requirements.

  • Ensures compliance of custody and ownership of Government equipment and related components.

  • Participates in related solution technologies and special projects, as required.

  • Interface with team leads and team members to collect, develop, document, and submit status updates via a Weekly Activity Report (WAR).

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • An Active in-scope TOP SECRET clearance with SCI Eligibility and US Passport.

  • Bachelors degree in IT, Information Systems, Cyber Security, Computer Engineering or similar and 5+ years of experience, or 9+ years of experience in enterprise IT systems engineering and operations involving complex classified DoD environments and mandatory security controls (e.g., STIGs).

  • 5+ years implementation and support in server administration. Extensive experience with Microsoft or Linux enterprise services portfolio (Exchange, Active Directory, DNS/BIND, DHCP, SQL, etc).

  • DoD 8570 IAT-II compliant (Security+ CE, CCNA, CND, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP).

  • Server Administration (Microsoft or Linux+) certification at hire.

  • Obtain Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator or Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) within 6 months.

  • Prior experience in implementing and supporting DoD secure systems environments.

  • Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructure (Nutanix preferred).

  • Experience with NSA CSfC requirements including Multi-Site Connectivity Capability Package (MSCCP) and Mobile Access Capability Package (MACP).

  • Experience with Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) and/or DISA Trusted Network Environment (TNE).

  • Customer-service oriented with a willingness to participate and assist.

  • Able to follow instructions and work both independently and in a (distributed) team environment.

  • Team-player and able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

  • Attention to detail. Excellent planning and time-management skills.

  • Able to support 24/7 operations (including support to exercises), when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator or Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) certification.

  • Additional IT certifications in relevant technology platform (e.g., Network+, Citrix, Dell, HPE/Aruba, ITIL, Juniper, Microsoft, Nutanix, Palo Alto, VMware).

  • Experience with Forcepoint/Everfox Trusted Thin Clinent.

  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA).

  • Familiarity with VDI/Virtual Environments and solutions (VMware Horizon, Citrix VDI).

  • Familiarity with Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI), Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) and C2 applications.

  • Experience in ITIL framework and best practices (e.g., Change Management, Configuration Management, Capacity Planning).

  • Experience using Help Desk software (e.g., Jira, Remedy, ServiceNow).
