Job summary

Oceanit is seeking a Systems Engineer to drive the development and implementation of new technologies and services. The role covers deployment and commercialization of technical products, resolving feasibility, process optimization and production issues, and ensuring safety, quality, and QA across manufacturing and testing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or other related engineering discipline.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in one or more product categories: consumer, commercial and/or medical.
  • In-depth experience in guiding design through to manufacturing.
  • Keen awareness of usability issues and empathy towards end user.
  • An obsession for detail while maintaining a context for the big picture.
  • Proficient in design software including SolidWorks, Fusion, Rhino, Alias, Keyshot, and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Fundamental understanding of shop and fabrication techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Additional Information: Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000/year (depending on education level and experience)

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to perform a broad range of duties including the development and implementation process of new technologies and services and the deployment and commercialization of technical products, including resolving technical feasibility, process optimization and production issues. This role ensures compliance with safety and quality working standards, management of resources (people, equipment, materials, and systems), ensures quality assurance operations to support the manufacturing, testing, and release of finished products under standards and internal procedures, and preparation, testing and evaluation of new products. In addition, this employee collaborates with researchers to align cutting edge research with scalable solutions to support new business and technology pursuits.

THE VALUE YOU DELIVER:
  • Product Design: Collaborate with design, engineering and research team members to create radical, functional and aesthetic design solutions. Drive product development on all phases of the design process from conceptualization to production in collaboration with the engineering and research team.
    • Drive problem finding exercises through user and client research to create meaningful design solutions.
    • Work with design and engineering teams to develop products that push the level of quality in both strategy and execution.
    • Communicate and interact directly with vendors, suppliers and manufacturers.
    • Effectively communicate ideas visually through hand sketches, model making techniques, and 3D CAD and rendering.
    • Lead by example for both design methodology and technical expertise.
    • Apply user-centric design methods and tools for developing innovative solutions
  • Product Development: Prepares samples of new materials using a variety of laboratory techniques. Performs chemical and mechanical testing of materials. Uses scientific and engineering principles to develop new materials, processes, technologies and new products in line with the growth strategy of the company.
    • Develops models and prototypes, tests and redesigns to meet or exceed customer specifications.
    • Contribute to a range of technology development projects while working with multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Brings market knowledge to help craft technical and programmatic win strategies.
    • Provides technical expertise, knowledge, pursuit strategy, and business opportunities relative to the above tasks.
    • Interfaces with customers, researches technical literature, and supports proposal development.
    • Performs theoretical and experimental research and development in materials science, nanomaterial fabrication & testing, and electro-chemistry.
  • Production and Facilities: Engages in the commercialization of technology products from procurement and storage of materials to manufacturing to shipping/delivery of finished product to the customer on time and within budget. Handles client and vendor relations. Identifies, researches, assists in the procurement, coordination, build out, set up and maintenance of production facilities, equipment and supplies, including problem resolution with vendors and clients.
  • Quality Assurance: Participates in the QA operations to support the development, testing and release of finished product. Develops, implements and assures compliance with all quality procedures and directives. Ensures in-process and finished product inventory for effective up-to-date tracking on all batches at various stages of QC. Manages documentation, reporting, and closure of compliance issues; reviews relevant documents for compliance with company SOPs, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
