Job summary

Reinventing Geospatial, Inc. (RGi) is seeking a senior Cloud/Databricks engineer to administer Databricks environments and AWS infrastructure for DoD/IC projects in the Maryland area. The role collaborates with data scientists, developers, and mission analysts to deliver scalable, secure cloud solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a 6+ year track record, Security+ readiness, and hands-on experience with Terraform/CloudFormation, Python data tools, and containerization. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience administering Databricks in enterprise or mission-critical environments.
  • Proficiency with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, networking).

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Databricks environments, including workspace config, user roles, clusters, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda) for secure, scalable operations.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, developers, and mission analysts to translate requirements into engineering solutions.
  • Implement and manage IaC with CloudFormation and Terraform for consistent deployments.
  • Contribute to Agile processes: sprint planning, standups, retrospectives.
  • Assist with system integration, security hardening, and operational readiness to meet mission objectives.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation aligned with customer standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data scientists, developers, and mission analysts to translate technical requirements into effective engineering solutions.
  • Implement and manage Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) using CloudFormation and Terraform for consistent, automated deployments.
  • Contribute to Agile processes, including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
  • Assist with system integration, security hardening, and operational readiness to meet compliance and mission objectives.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation aligned with customer standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field with 6+ years experience.
  • Proven, hands‑on experience administering and supporting Databricks in enterprise or mission‑critical environments.
  • Skilled in managing AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and networking components.
  • Experienced in developing and testing automation scripts to streamline cloud and data operations.
  • Strong ability to create and maintain technical documentation, work instructions, and configuration records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data transformation, analysis, and visualization.
  • Experienced in building PowerPoint presentations, integrating visuals, graphs, and analytical insights.
  • Familiar with classified cloud environment standards and compliance best practices.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain Security+ CE (or equivalent) within six months for privileged user access.
  • Background in Agile/Scrum environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, high attention to detail, and capable of working independently or within collaborative, fast‑paced teams.
  • Experience supporting DoD or IC customers and familiarity with IC customer mission systems and data handling standards.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, ECS, EKS) and experience with Python (Pandas, Boto3, PySpark, MLOps), Java or Scala.
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional) or related certification such as AWS DevOps Engineer.
  • Familiarity with Bash scripting and experience with Databricks, Jupyter Notebook, Microsoft Power Query, Power Pivot.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including advanced performance tuning, query plan analysis, and indexing strategies.
  • Experience transforming data and performing join/merge operations on key fields.
  • Knowledge of client–server, microservices, and MVC software architectures.
  • Multi‑cloud exposure to AWS, IBM, Google, Azure, and Oracle.
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, and Docker.
