Job summary

Teledyne Controls in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Systems Engineer to join our team developing next-generation wireless avionics systems for commercial aircraft. You will contribute from concept through certification, owning hardware-software-network integration and driving verification across the full product lifecycle.

The role requires a STEM bachelor, 2+ years in systems engineering or aerospace, and proficiency in Python for automated tests.

Responsibilities

  • Gain deep technical insight into complex systems across their entire lifecycle—from concept through deployment—by engaging directly with hardware, crafting automation scripts, and designing custom APIs.
  • Design aircraft data management technologies encompassing embedded databases and digital communications to ensure reliable data management and transfer across various aircraft systems.
  • Translate operational requirements into robust system module designs and comprehensive verification strategies that ensure performance and reliability.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot prototype hardware and software to ensure seamless interoperability across subsystems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of field issues by collaborating closely with OEMs and customers to resolve complex system‑level challenges.
  • Develop and execute system‑level test procedures to validate hardware/software functionality and ensure full compliance with technical requirements.
  • Design and implement automated test frameworks to streamline regression testing and improve verification efficiency.
  • Author and maintain technical documentation, including interface control documents, system specifications, and process guides.
  • Support product transition to production, including design validation, manufacturing readiness, and field deployment support.

What you need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with programming languages like Python for developing automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Experience with hands‑on hardware integration, software debugging, and troubleshooting in avionics environments.
  • Understanding of system‑level testing, verification strategies, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to translate operational requirements into robust system designs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional engineering efforts is preferred.
  • Experience working under ISO 9001 guidelines is preferred.
  • Previous experience in avionics or aerospace systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with wireless and networked avionics systems, including Wi‑Fi and Cellular technologies preferred.
  • Familiarity with database systems preferred.
  • Expertise in communications protocols, networking, protocol analysis (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP), and network architecture design preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees)

Salary Range: $72,800.00-$97,100.000 The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
