Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer to join an engineering team supporting a live broadcast production environment. The role centers on patching, remediation, and validation of server vulnerabilities across a Linux-based production stack.

You will work closely with senior engineers, perform hands-on Linux administration, coordinate patch cycles, and document remediation activities while following change-control procedures to maintain system stability.

• Troubleshoot Linux systems and applications within complex production and networking environments.
• Coordinate server shutdowns, patching, reactivation, and validation with senior engineering staff.
• Maintain clear and accurate documentation of completed remediation and patching activities.
• Support occasional Windows server patching and vendor application updates.
• Work closely with senior engineers and the broader team to safely reduce the backlog of outstanding vulnerabilities.
• Follow established engineering procedures and change‑control practices when working on production systems.

Systems Engineer

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a hands‑on Systems Engineer to join an engineering team supporting a live broadcast production environment.

The immediate focus is on addressing a significant volume of server cybersecurity vulnerabilities and remediation activity. Working closely with senior engineers, this person will take ownership of day‑to‑day server patching, remediation, troubleshooting, and validation across a complex production environment where stability and attention to detail are critical.

This is a hands‑on engineering position, not an architecture or management role. The successful candidate will be comfortable working directly on Linux systems, following established procedures, and taking ownership of assigned remediation work.

What You'll Do:

Perform hands‑on patching and maintenance of production Linux servers, including controlled reboots and post‑patch validation.

Review cybersecurity vulnerability tickets, understand the underlying issues, and determine appropriate remediation approaches.

Troubleshoot Linux systems and applications within complex production and networking environments.

What We're Looking For:

The strongest candidates will have 4-7 years of hands‑on systems/infrastructure experience, with a strong foundation in Linux administration.

Essential Qualifications:

Strong Linux systems administration experience.

Hands‑on experience with production server patching and maintenance.

Experience identifying, troubleshooting, and remediating cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

Ability to troubleshoot systems within complex networking environments.

Experience working carefully and methodically within production environments.

Strong communication skills and the ability to follow established engineering procedures.

Comfortable working directly on servers and performing hands‑on remediation activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Rocky Linux, CentOS, or RHEL.

Exposure to AWS / EC2.

Scripting experience with Bash, Python, or similar technologies.

Experience with monitoring platforms such as Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, or similar tools.

Experience supporting broadcast, media, streaming, or other high‑availability production environments.
