Job summary

Amazon in Austin, TX is seeking a senior software engineer to work with engineers across the company on next‑generation AWS platforms and to own the implementation of your work from design to deployment.

You will lead complex architectural efforts, decompose large-scale server systems into actionable tasks, and build automation using AI‑driven tools to transform workflows and operations. Strong programming experience and system design expertise are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non‑internship software development experience.
• 1+ year designing or architecting systems for reliability and scaling.
• 7+ years admin experience in networking, storage, OS, and hands‑on engineering.
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, OS).
• Experience coding in at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Go, PowerShell, or Ruby).

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical leader solving complex architectural problems that were not previously defined, proactively identifying deficiencies, writing tactical code to prevent customer impact, and scaling solutions with the team.
• Decompose large server‑system testability, reliability, and diagnosis problems into straightforward tasks, components, and features to lead and deliver.
• Create automation through agentic workflows: develop smart automation solutions, implement AI‑driven tools and workflows, and drive AI transformation.
• Collaborate with a variety of roles (SDEs, SDETs, Hardware Engineers, TPMs, Managers, Principals) across AWS Hardware Engineering, EC2 and other AWS services through server conception, testing, launch, and operations.

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ year of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
• 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands‑on systems engineering.
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java.
• Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
