Job summary

Price Engineering, a SunSource company, is seeking an Engineering Manager with a strong background in hydraulics and automation to lead design teams and coordinate cross-functional efforts. You will mentor engineers, drive standard practices, and partner with sales to define system requirements for industrial projects.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience as an Application Engineer and Engineering Manager in fluid power or motion control, and a track record of process improvements

Qualifications

  • Education: a 2-year engineering degree minimum; business and/or leadership training preferred.
  • Experience: 3–5 years as Application Engineer and Engineering Manager (fluid power, motion control automation, and/or power transmission).

Responsibilities

  • Lead hydraulic system design and integration with electrical systems.
  • Mentor engineering staff and manage project design activities.
  • Coordinate with sales to capture system requirements and statements of work.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to establish standard labor costs and with purchasing on suppliers and costs.
  • Drive continuous improvements to standard power system products and engineering standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Engineering Leadership
    1. Work with the hydraulic system designers on developing and approving circuit and system design for projects.
    2. Work with the hydraulic systems team on integration of hydraulic and electric systems.
    3. Develop and mentor engineering team members.
    4. Support Wig #1 call activity to connect engineering team members to key customers/opportunities.
    5. Support Wig #2 effort to help build the engineering team.
    6. Help lead key performance improvement activities in the engineering team.
    7. Work with the hydraulic system designers on their weekly priorities.
    8. Manage entire team allocation and reporting of time for project design and support.
    9. Work with entire team on hydraulic system cost estimating and final statement of work processes.
    10. Work with sales team to adequately identify system requirements and statement of work for new Industrial system projects.
    11. Work closely with Manufacturing to develop standard labor costs for assembly activities.
    12. Work closely with purchasing to identify standard suppliers, components, and costs.
    13. Lead efforts for continuous improvements to the designs of standard power system products.
  2. Engineering Best Practice

Work with other engineering groups within the organization to help drive the following:

    1. Drive engineering standards - prints, datasheets, and statement of work.
    2. Engineering tools - Hydraw, MDtools, PDM...etc
    3. Documentation / File Storage Locations
    4. Document naming conventions

    1. Be clear when communicating and have clear directives.
    2. Encourage the team members to share information. Emphasize the importance of each team member's contribution and demonstrate how all of their jobs operate together to move the entire team closer to its goal.
General Education & Experience
  1. Education, 2-year engineering degree minimum. Business and or leadership training preferred.
  2. Experience, 3-5 year’s as Application Engineer and Engineering Manager (fluid power, motion control automation, and/or power transmission).
