Job summary

Amphenol Corporation's ACS division in Nashua, NH is seeking a Systems Architect to lead architectural design for high-speed backplane connectors and interconnect solutions across telecom/datacom and data center markets.

You will translate system requirements into connector architectures, shape roadmaps with SI engineering and mechanical teams, deliver executive-level briefings, and provide advanced technical support, with occasional travel to customer sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; advanced degree desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in hardware/interconnect for IT/Datacom.
  • Ability to translate system requirements into connector architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design and strategy for high-speed backplane connectors.
  • Serve as the technical face of HSBP for strategic customers.
  • Guide product roadmap with SI engineering and mechanical design teams.
  • Deliver high-level technical presentations to executives and stakeholders.
  • Provide advanced technical support on backplane issues.
  • Define differentiation strategy for HSBP products.
  • Coordinate with optics and other units for a unified narrative.
  • Travel as required.

Position: Systems Architect

Location: Nashua, NH

Amphenol High Speed and Commercial Products Groups are the market leaders for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom and Diverse markets (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are currently seeking a Systems Architect to join our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our customer’s ultimate success depends on our ability to solve cutting edge problems in relation to interconnect solutions. We want an experienced Systems Architect to help steer our connector product roadmap and to be a valuable part of our interconnect design team, making sure our connector product solutions match our customers’ system-level needs.

  • Lead the architectural design and technical strategy for customer solutions involving Amphenol's high speed backplane connector portfolio (board-to-board, hybrid, and related topologies)
  • Serve as the technical face of HSBP for strategic customers, including hyperscale and AI/ML infrastructure accounts, translating system-level requirements (channel budget, SI/PI, mechanical density, thermal) into connector architecture direction
  • Guide the HSBP product roadmap in coordination with SI engineering, mechanical design, and product management, ensuring alignment with emerging standards (IEEE 802.3dj, OIF CEI-112G/224G) and customer next-gen platform timelines
  • Prepare and deliver high-level technical presentations to key stakeholders, including customer executives and internal leadership
  • Provide advanced technical support and rapid response on complex backplane interconnect problems raised by customers or internal teams
  • Devise and communicate differentiation strategy for HSBP products relative to competing backplane connector solutions
  • Partner with other business units (including optics) to ensure a consistent systems-level narrative across Amphenol's full interconnect portfolio
  • Some travel required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Engineering preferred
    • An advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) is highly desirable
  • The role will draw on either your electronic engineering background (signal transmission, EMI/EMC, signal integrity) and/or your mechanical engineering background (materials, tolerance analysis, CAD tools)
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience working on hardware and interconnect solutions in the IT/Datacom space

SKILLS:

  • Ability to effectively communicate across the engineering and managerial functions of a business
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills
  • High-level customer service and ability to build relationships with customers
  • Experience with modeling tools preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
