Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an accomplished Enterprise Network Architect to lead the DOE networks program in Germantown, MD. You will shape the architectural vision, define roadmaps, and direct advanced network engineering across LAN/WAN, data centers, and security domains.

You will apply Zero Trust principles, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with DOE security requirements while crafting clear architecture diagrams and transition plans for large modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• 8+ years with BS/BA, or 6+ years with MS/MA, or 12+ years with HS.
• Deep routing and switching, WAN design, data center and virtualization.
• Experience architecting enterprise network solutions for large-scale modernization.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture principles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the principal authority on enterprise network architecture for DOE networks.
• Define and maintain the architectural vision, strategy, and roadmap for DOE network infrastructure.
• Direct architectural activities and ensure network engineering solutions meet DOE requirements.
• Architect enterprise network solutions including LAN/WAN, data center interconnects, and segmentation.

• Maintain architecture documentation, SSPs, and audit artifacts.

• Serve as the principal authority on enterprise network architecture for DOE networks
• Define and maintain the architectural vision, strategy, and roadmap for DOE network infrastructure
• Direct architectural activities and ensure network engineering solutions meet DOE technical and security requirements
• Architect and engineer enterprise network solutions encompassing LAN/WAN topologies, data center interconnects, and network segmentation
• Apply Zero Trust Architecture principles, including least-privilege access and continuous verification
• Plan, evaluate, and optimize network topologies, traffic flows, and capacity requirements
• Lead network transformation initiatives from concept development through deployment and sustainment
• Evaluate and integrate emerging network technologies and engineering frameworks, including digital engineering practices
• Conduct network-level risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
• Maintain network architecture documentation, design specifications, configuration baselines, SSPs, and audit artifacts
• Communicate architectural concepts, design decisions, and risk findings to DOE stakeholders and senior government officials

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance
• Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 12 years with High School Diploma
• Deep expertise in routing and switching protocols, WAN design, data center and virtualization architectures, DNS, and proxy technologies
• Demonstrated experience architecting enterprise network solutions in support of large-scale modernization, automation, and digital transformation efforts
• Working knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles
• Experience conducting network assessments, gap analyses, and cross-domain integration planning in distributed enterprise environments
• Strong technical documentation skills with the ability to produce architecture diagrams, design specifications, SSPs, and transition plans
