Apply hands-on hardware engineering judgment to advanced engineering and AI research problems involving complex physical and electromechanical systems. This remote opportunity values practical experience in integration, verification, reliability, troubleshooting, manufacturing test, and field investigation.
Contribute expertise that helps improve AI reasoning about complex systems, interfaces, verification and validation, reliability, manufacturing, and hardware failures. Projects emphasize real-world hardware development and production experience over purely theoretical systems knowledge.
At least 5 years of professional systems, integration, reliability, or test engineering experience, including at least 3 years of recent hands-on work in hardware integration, test, validation, qualification, failure analysis, manufacturing test, or troubleshooting.
Experience as a responsible engineer for complex physical systems or hardware products, with ownership across meaningful lifecycle stages from requirements and interface definition through integration, verification, qualification, production readiness, and field support.
Deep expertise in systems engineering and requirements or verification and validation, hardware integration and test, reliability engineering and failure analysis, or manufacturing and production test engineering.
Practical command of applicable methods including requirements traceability, interface management, test planning, FMEA or FMECA, fault isolation, root-cause analysis, reliability, qualification, environmental testing, design-for-test, manufacturing yield, and system-level failure modes.
Extensive experience integrating, instrumenting, testing, debugging, and characterizing physical hardware using relevant laboratory equipment, data-acquisition systems, automated test infrastructure, environmental test equipment, diagnostic tools, and structured failure-analysis methods.
Experience validating hardware in product or manufacturing environments, with the ability to explain system decisions, integration trade-offs, test results, root causes, and failure mechanisms.
Experience at organizations that design, build, integrate, test, and manufacture complex hardware systems is strongly preferred. Relevant sectors include aerospace and defense, space, automotive and EV, semiconductors, consumer electronics and computing, drones, eVTOL and robotics, industrial and energy, and medical devices. Candidates from comparable hardware-focused organizations are encouraged to apply.
