Responsibilities

Ready to contribute to Brookings success? The Systems Analyst, Enterprise Applications supports the planning, governance, implementation, integration, and continuous improvement of Brookings' enterprise technology ecosystem. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Applications and Architecture, this role serves as a bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, translating business needs into scalable, secure, and practical technology-enabled solutions. The position contributes across a broad portfolio of enterprise applications — including enterprise architecture initiatives, roadmap execution, integration and automation, data and analytics, governance processes, solution analysis, and technology modernization — spanning platforms such as Workday, Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, Adaptive Planning, Concur, integration technologies, and future systems. The successful candidate operates as a hands-on individual contributor — doing the development work directly, not just specifying it. With a working grasp of how backend systems function, they can pick up new tools quickly to build integrations, reports, dashboards, and automations, while partnering with business stakeholders to analyze requirements and recommend scalable solutions. For example, they might write a Workday report, build a Power BI dashboard, develop an API integration, or configure an automation or AI agent.

Technical Delivery (45%)
  • Design, build, configure, and maintain integrations between Brookings enterprise systems, using APIs, middleware/integration platforms, and scripting as appropriate.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of integration errors, data-sync issues, and automation failures, escalating to the Director when architectural decisions are needed.
  • Evaluate and document API endpoints, data mappings, and error-handling logic for new and existing integrations.
  • Partner with internal teams, vendors, and implementation partners on configuration, development, testing, data conversion, and deployment of integration and automation solutions.
  • Build reporting, dashboards, and automation workflows that reduce manual effort and improve data reliability across systems.
  • Perform system configuration, quality assurance, regression testing, and user acceptance testing for integration and automation changes.
  • Research and pilot emerging integration patterns, automation tools, and AI-enabled capabilities; build small proofs-of-concept to demonstrate value before broader investment.
Enterprise Systems Analysis & Solution Design (25%)
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand business challenges, requirements, pain points, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support requirements-gathering sessions, workshops, interviews, and discovery activities with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Analyze business processes and identify opportunities for system optimization, automation, integration, and modernization.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of alternative technology solutions and support developing recommendations based on business requirements, technical feasibility, cost, complexity, risk, and long-term sustainability.
  • Create process flows, user stories, systems documentation, data flow diagrams, and solution proposals that support decision-making and implementation — including building the actual report, dashboard, or prototype where feasible.
  • Assist in technology assessments, software evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and platform-selection initiatives.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Brookings’ enterprise application landscape and the relationships, dependencies, and data flows among systems.
Governance, Roadmap & Project Support (20%)
  • Support governance processes for enterprise applications, including change management, intake management, prioritization, and decision documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining enterprise application inventories, roadmaps, project backlogs, decision logs, architecture artifacts, and implementation plans.
  • Coordinate activities related to change review boards, governance committees, roadmap planning sessions, and cross-functional technology discussions.
  • Track project status, risks, dependencies, decisions, action items, and follow-up owners across enterprise application initiatives.
  • Help ensure proposed system changes are evaluated for downstream impact across business processes, integrations, reporting, data, security, and user experience.
  • Maintain documentation, standards, knowledge repositories, and templates that support the Enterprise Applications function.
Continuous Improvement & Professional Development (10%)
  • Stay current with enterprise technology trends, SaaS platforms, ERP and CRM systems, integration technologies, automation tools, analytics, and AI solutions.
  • Develop expertise across Brookings’ core enterprise systems and related business processes.
  • Participate in mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities to strengthen technical and analytical skills.
  • Contribute to a culture of documentation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within BTech
