Job summary

Torch Technologies is seeking a dedicated Systems Administrator Technician to join the OSF Infrastructure team in Huntsville, AL. You will provide hands-on support for M&S HWIL integration, maintaining Linux systems and Cisco networks to enable secure ground and flight tests.

Key duties include system administration, testing, troubleshooting, and collaboration with government personnel and contractors. A Security+ certification and ability to obtain a secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• A High school diploma is required; pursuing a degree is acceptable.
• CompTIA Security+ certification and ability to obtain/maintain a secret clearance is required.
• DoD 8140 (DoD 8570.01) IAT Level II certification is required upon employment.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, Windows, networking, hardware, and system troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Support operation and maintenance of Linux-based systems under supervision.
• Assist with Cisco networking device configuration, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity, end-user access, hardware, servers, and software issues.
• Perform day-to-day system administration for M&S HWIL environments and related tests.

Torch Technologies is seeking a dedicated Systems Administrator Technician to join our Objective Simulation Framework (OSF) Infrastructure team. In this role, you will provide hands‑on technical support for the Modeling & Simulation (M&S) integration of real-time Hardware‑in‑the-Loop (HWIL) architectures. Your work will help secure and enable Missile Defense Agency (MDA) ground tests, flight tests, and other advanced HWIL events.

Duties

• Support the operation and maintenance of Linux‑based computer systems under the guidance of senior system and network administrators.
• Assist with administration of Cisco network devices, including basic configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting through the Cisco IOS command-line interface.
• Test and troubleshooting for network connectivity, end‑user access, computer hardware, servers, and common software issues.
• Support day-to-day system administration for Modeling and Simulation (M&S) systems, including routine maintenance, account administration, software installation, and system health checks.
• Assist with building, configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting hardware, software, applications, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Assist with system and software testing, validation, and troubleshooting to support M&S and HWIL test environments.
• Execute basic test procedures, document test results, and assist in identifying and resolving issues discovered during testing.
• Monitor systems and network tools, document observed issues, and provide timely status updates to the team.
• Respond to technical support requests and assist with issue resolution in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain accurate system, network, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting documentation.
• Follow established IT architecture, processes, cybersecurity requirements, configuration-management practices, and technical standards across modeling and simulation (M&S) environments.
• Demonstrate knowledge of cybersecurity risks through hands‑on academic lab work, cybersecurity internships, or similar practical experience.
• Coordinate with government personnel, contractors, program teams, and senior technical staff to support mission and test requirements.
• Collect technical data and prepare test results, reports, logs, and other documentation as directed.
• Provide on‑site operational and technical support five days per week for development and operational assets.
• Perform other assigned IT, system administration, testing, and technical support duties in support of mission success.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship.
• High school diploma.Candidates currently pursuing a degree will be considered.
• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret level clearance.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, networking, computer hardware, and system troubleshooting.
• Ability to support system testing, document results, and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Candidates must meet the certification requirements for DoD 8140 (DoD 8570.01) IAT Level II upon employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Linux certification, e.g., Linux+, LPIC, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
• Previous experience with Missile Defense Agency elements, components, or equivalent system-of-systems environments.
• Experience supporting system testing, integration, or validation activities.
