Caelum Research Corporation is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The role focuses on Windows Server AD configuration, VMware management, security compliance, and advanced troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate has DoD experience, a Security+ CE, and leadership experience managing teams. Responsibilities include AD policy administration, server and virtualization stewardship, scripting for automation, and ensuring high availability, capacity planning, and secure

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in a directly related field (or equivalent experience)
• Security+CE or DoD 8570.1 IAT II equivalent
• At least 5 years of systems admin/leadership experience
• Strong Active Directory configuration and policy administration
• VMware deployment, patching, and monitoring
• Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)
• TCP/IP, firewall, routing knowledge
• Experience with high-availability, clustering, load balancing
• DoD security environment and CISCO UCS familiarity

Responsibilities

• Configure and administer Windows Server AD and group policy
• Perform Windows Server administration including troubleshooting and monitoring
• Manage VMware environment and associated deployment/patching
• Monitor Windows event logs and performance; manage hosted platforms
• Resolve complex configuration, networking, and security issues
• Implement scripting for migrations, backups, and recoveries using Bash/PowerShell/Python
• Support performance tuning, capacity planning, and HA/clustering
• Administer production environments with automated installs/builds/configs and enterprise monitoring
• Support storage hardware and environments (e.g., Commvault)
• Work with Cisco UCS and HBSS configuration management

POSITION: Systems Administrator - Senior LOCATION: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD SCOPE:

Responsibilities

• Windows Server Active Directory (AD) configuration and administration including policy management
• Performs Windows Server systems administration including troubleshooting, monitoring, and support.
• Manages VMware environment, including systems deployment, patching, STIG/hardening and troubleshooting.
• Windows event and performance monitoring; and management of hosted systems software platforms.
• Resolves complex issues associated with system configuration management, resource sharing and basic networking troubleshooting and problem identification.
• Resolves complex security issues including identity management, records retention, and implements destruction policies.
• Uses and writes operating system commands and scripts, manages disk configurations, maintains hardware and software RAID 1-N, performs migration, backup and recovery using scripting languages, such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, and/or Perl.
• Supports performance tuning, capacity planning and bottleneck resolution, administration of Microsoft Servers, building and maintaining high-availability, clustered and scalable systems, and load balancing
• Manages production environments using automated install, automated build and deployment, automated configuration management, enterprise monitoring systems, server virtualization, load balancing, web servers, and application servers.
• Supports storage hardware and environments (i.e. Commvault)
• Works with CISCO Unified Computing System (UCS)
• Supports HBSS configuration management and troubleshooting (e.g. McAfee/Trellix)
• May lead 5 or more employees QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Master's Degree in a directly related field and at least 5 years' experience; Lower-level degrees in relevant fields will be considered with additional experience.
• Must possess a Security+CE (or equivalent DOD Directive 8570.1 IAT II)
• Must hold at least one (1) current Computing Environment (CE) certification (e.g. MCSE, MCSA, etc.) or be able to obtain one within 6 months of start
• Five (5) plus years of experience leading five (5) or more employees
• Expertise in Active Directory (AD) configuration and policy administration
• Experience in VMWare systems (or VMWare alternatives) including troubleshooting and monitoring
• Experience in resolving complex issues associated with configuration management. resource sharing and basic networking troubleshooting and problem identification.
• Experience in resolving complex security issues, identity management, records retention, and adhering to destruction policies
• Experience using and writing operating system commands and scripts, and scripting languages, including one or more of Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, and/or Perl.
• Experience in TCP/IP, firewalls and routing
• Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning and bottleneck resolution
• Experience in resource allocation and utilization for large databases, disk configuration, including the maintenance of hardware and software RAID 1-N
• Experience in database design, data modeling and query execution, database replication, migration, backup and recovery
• Experience performance tuning, capacity planning and bottleneck resolution, building and maintaining high-availability, clustered and scalable systems
• Experience managing a production environment with the following: automated install, automated build and deployment, automated configuration management, enterprise monitoring systems, server virtualization, load balancing, web servers, and application servers, Microsoft server operating systems and middleware, server configuration and installation, performance and network monitoring tools, operating systems upgrades and migrations
• Experience managing or working with Windows Server and Linux Operating systems and associated configuration tools is desirable.
