TekSynap is seeking a Systems Administrator - Senior to support multiple government contracts across Richmond, VA and other locations. The role requires extensive hands‑on experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining complex systems within federal environments, including DoD/IC contexts.

A range of DoD and cybersecurity certifications is expected, with a focus on secure, reliable IT infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Ten (10) years specialized experience in systems administration.
• Hands-on installing, configuring, maintaining and resolving software issues.
• Experience supporting government agencies in federal environments (IC/DoD and civil agencies).
• Understanding of customer requirements and operational landscape in government contracts.

Responsibilities

• Ensures stable operation of in-house computer software systems and network connections; plan, install, configure, maintain and optimize network software and communication links.
• Organizes and directs the configuration and operation of information management systems.
• Analyzes and resolves end user software and connectivity issues.
• Conducts capacity and performance analysis; provides system configuration change and upgrade recommendations.
• Increases administrator efficiency via automated tools; develops procedures and training.
• Provides end user training.
• Provides recommendations on technology direction to align with business vision.
• Offers local and remote maintenance support across multiple locations; includes upgrades and new installs.
• Directs other system administrators to ensure day-to-day system administration and user support.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

• Ten (10) years specialized experience. At least four (4) years of which are concentrated, hands‑on installing, configuring, maintaining and resolving issues with various software..

• Demonstrated experience supporting government agencies, customers, or contracts within federal environments. This includes the Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Civil agencies, and military organizations. Prior experience supporting the same or similar contract, with an in‑depth understanding of the customer environment, requirements, and operational landscape, is highly desirable.

Certifications

• DoD 8570 IAT Level II Baseline Certification (at least one of these)

• COMPTIA Security+ CE

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

• COMPTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures the stable operation of the in‑house computer software systems and network connections. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network software and communication links.

• Organizes and directs the configuration and operation of information management systems.

• Analyzes and resolves end user software program and connectivity issues.

• Conducts capacity and performance analysis and provides system configuration change and upgrade recommendations.

• Increases system administrator efficiency and accuracy via the use of automated tools and scripts, develops system administrator procedures, and conducts system administrator training and skills assessment.

• Provides end user training.

• Provides recommendations on technology direction to align with business vision.

• Provides local and remote maintenance support to various operational systems deployed at more than one location. Support includes general maintenance, upgrades, and new installs of servers and applications.

• Directs the work of other system administrators to provide the day‑to‑day system administration to include system and resource optimization, and user assistance.

• Applies advanced technical knowledge of application networking, including load balancing applications, and ensuring fault tolerance. Performs vulnerability management.

WAGE INFORMATION

Target salary range: $100,000 - $150,000. The salary range displayed is an estimate and will be determined on several factors regarding the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract parameters and organizational requirements. The displayed salary is one component of the total compensation package for employees
