Job summary

UltraViolet Cyber is seeking a RHEL system administrator / infrastructure engineer to support a SOC Engineering team. The role involves RHEL provisioning, patching, STIG compliance, backups, and aligning telemetry with detection and compliance across cloud and on‑prem environments.

The ideal candidate has hands-on RHEL experience, SIEM familiarity, and is able to collaborate with analysts. US citizenship and Active Secret Clearance are required, with 1–2 days onsite in Herndon, VA.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience administering and engineering RHEL servers in production environments.
• Experience with patching, OS hardening, STIG compliance, and backups.
• Experience supporting a SOC, SIEM, or cyber defense environment.
• Active Secret Clearance is required and US citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Provision and maintain RHEL servers across cloud and on‑prem environments.
• Automate server management tasks with Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Coordinate with SOC analysts to align telemetry with detection and compliance.
• Support network devices, backups, and security tooling as part of SOC operations.

We are seeking a RHEL system administrator / infrastructure engineer to support a SOC Engineering team responsible for expanding security visibility across cloud and on-premises environments. This engineer will be responsible for RHEL system provisioning, patching, STIG compliance, backups, and configuring existing hardware and software to support new software and capabilities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong SIEM platform experience and a solid understanding of enterprise RHEL deployments and an understanding of SOC operations and support.

The position requires an Active Secret Clearance and 1-2 days per week onsite in Herndon, VA.

What You’ll Do:

• 4+ years of hands-on experience administering and engineering RHEL servers in production environments
• Experience with distributed enterprise services, DNS, firewalls, switches, NAS, backup solutions, load balancers, and server hardware.
• Experience with patching, OS hardening, application hardening, and STIG compliance.
• Experience with automating server management tasks with ansible, PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripts.
• Experience supporting a SOC, SIEM, or cyber defense environment
• Working knowledge of and Windows administration
• Ability to collaborate with analysts and engineers to align telemetry inges on with detection, monitoring, and compliance requirements

What You've Have:

• US Citizenship is Required

• Hands-on experience administering Cisco network devices in production environments
• Experience with GIT, and DevOps principles
• Experience using wri ng Ansible scripts to manage RHEL hosts
• Familiarity with Splunk Enterprise Security, CIM, data models, and security content dependencies
• Experience with cloud infrastructure AWS, Azure, Microso 365, iden ty pla orms, EDR, firewalls, and network security tools
• Familiarity with regex, JSON parsing, syslog, and API-based log collection

Preferred Skills:

• Hands-on experience administering Cisco network devices in production environments
• Experience with GIT, and DevOps principles
• Experience with & writing Ansible scripts to manage RHEL hosts
• Familiarity with Splunk Enterprise Security, CIM, data models, and security content dependencies
