Job description

Overview

Location: NAS Patuxent River, MD.

This position is part of the Ground Segment team supporting the MQ-4C Triton program test activities, providing technical support services on the Triton Air vehicle and Ground Control Stations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform as a Windows/VMware System Administrator for a classified government contract.
  • Perform as a Linux/Redhat System Administrator for a classified government contract.
  • Maintain smooth operation of multi‑user computer systems, coordinating with network, software, system engineers, PC desktop technicians, project managers, end users and IT management.
  • Analyze customer requirements and determine equipment and software solutions.
  • Review recommendations and implement system enhancements to improve performance and reliability (installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, configuration management).
  • Provide backup and recovery services; manage file systems, disk space, and virus protection.
  • Create and maintain user and computer accounts and modify file permissions and security access lists.
  • Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams in sustainment, evaluation, integration and system deficiency resolution with aircrew, engineering, management, customer and vendors.
  • Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines and maintain security audit and logging information on all classified networked and standalone computers.
  • Prepare security documentation for input to Computer Security.
  • Report on project status for recurring and non‑recurring efforts.
  • Work under minimal direction, independently determine and develop approach to solutions.
  • Provide engineering updates/adjudication for Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for Systems Administrator:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree AND 2 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master's degree AND 0 years of related professional/military experience.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Administrator:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree AND 6 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master's degree AND 4 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Ph.D. AND 1 year of related professional/military experience.

Basic Qualifications for Both Levels:

  • Must have an active US Government Top Secret Clearance (background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, SCI clearance and a CI Polygraph within a reasonable time as determined by business needs.
  • Current Security+ CE, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.
  • Experience managing Windows Server OS and domain architecture.
  • Ability to support multiple networks and perform necessary administration tasks.
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI/CI Poly clearance.
  • Current valid Security+, CASP, CISSP or similar security certification.
  • Current valid DoD 8570 Certification in a primary OS (Windows, Linux, Cisco).
  • Experience operating under and managing systems within NISPOM Chapter8, DCID6/3‑ICD503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware in a networked environment.
  • Understanding basic networking, including subnets, routing, and VLANs; Cisco experience and/or certification.
  • Windows AD, LDAP, VMWare, and knowledge of SAN storage systems.
  • Linux Operating System experience and/or certification for current versions.
  • Rudimentary scripting experience.
  • Experience with the creation and deployment of system images in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Certification & Accreditation process.
  • Working knowledge of DISA security STIGs and maintaining security best practices.
Security Clearance & Requirements

Clearance required for start: Yes.

Clearance type: Top Secret.

Special Access Program clearance, SCI clearance and CI Polygraph clearances are required.

Security+ CE or equivalent required; continuous evaluation of security status mandatory.

Travel & Relocation

Travel: Yes, 25% of the time.

Relocation assistance may be available.

Work Arrangement

9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off.

Compensation

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00.

Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00.

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential and discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
