Riot Platforms in Austin, TX is hiring a Systems Administrator to support and maintain Riot’s internal infrastructure across multiple locations. You will manage servers, virtualization platforms, and Microsoft cloud services, ensuring stability, security, and high performance in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 3–5 years of IT systems experience, strong Windows Server and Proxmox/Ubuntu skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent enterprise IT experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in systems administration / infrastructure support.
• Strong experience with Windows Server administration, including AD, Group Policy, and hybrid environments.
• Strong experience with Proxmox and Ubuntu.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365 services (including SharePoint Online).
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix and Proxmox).
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, routing).
• PowerShell scripting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the monitoring, maintenance, and health of physical and virtual server infrastructure across multiple sites.
• Administer and support Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) operating systems.
• Administer and support Active Directory, Group Policy, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 identity access management.
• Manage virtualization platforms (Proxmox, Nutanix, Hyper‑V, VMware) including provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Oversee patch management and vulnerability remediation compliance.
• Maintain DNS, DHCP, file services, backups, and SharePoint Online.
• Monitor performance, respond to alerts, and implement changes per change management processes.
• Maintain documentation, SOPs, and security hardening practices.
• Participate in upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
• Escalate as Level 2, mentor staff, and coordinate with third‑party vendors.

About The Role

Riot is expanding our footprint into hyperscale data centers for AI and HPC clients, and we’re looking for a Systems Administrator to help shape the future of digital infrastructure. As our Systems Administrator, you’ll support and maintain Riot’s internal infrastructure across multiple locations. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, stability, and performance of core IT systems, including servers, virtualization platforms, and Microsoft cloud services.

This is a hands-on, operational role for someone who can work independently, take ownership, and be trusted to manage the environment in the absence of direct oversight. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining a stable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.

In addition to core IT responsibilities, this role supports the technology needs of a fabrication and engineering-focused manufacturing environment of our Denver based subsidiary, ESS Metron. This includes working closely with mechanical and electrical engineering teams, plant operations, and external vendors to ensure reliable and efficient system performance across the organization.

This position will be based in our Austin office in Texas.

What you'll do

• Own the monitoring, maintenance, and overall health of physical and virtual server infrastructure across multiple sites, including proactive system health checks and issue resolution.
• Administer and support Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) operating systems.
• Administer and support Active Directory, Group Policy, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 identity access management.
• Manage virtualization platforms (Proxmox, Nutanix, Hyper‑V, and VMware), including provisioning, lifecycle management, and resource optimization.
• Oversee patch management process and ensure compliance of vulnerability remediation.
• Oversee core infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, file services, backups, and Microsoft 365 collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint Online).
• Monitor system performance, respond to alerts, and implement infrastructure changes in response, following established change management processes.
• Maintain accurate documentation, SOPs, and enforce security best practices, including patch compliance, access control, and system hardening.
• Participate in infrastructure projects such as upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
• Act as the primary escalation point for Level 2 support, resolving complex issues while mentoring staff and promoting best practices.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and support IT operations within a manufacturing and engineering environment to ensure system reliability and business continuity.
• Operate with a high degree of ownership and autonomy, proactively maintaining a stable, secure, and high-performing environment while making sound technical decisions.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent enterprise IT experience).
• 3–5 years of experience in systems administration / infrastructure support.
• Strong experience with Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and hybrid environments (on-prem AD + Entra ID / Microsoft 365).
• Strong experience with Proxmox and ubuntu.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365 services (including SharePoint Online).
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix and Proxmox).
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, routing).
• Experience with system monitoring, backups, performance analysis, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and operate with minimal supervision.
• PowerShell scripting experience preferred.

Preferred Certifications (Highly Desired)

• Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) and/or VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
