Led by Founder & CEO, Rob Roy, we believe in revolutionary innovation, operational excellence and the principle of karma. Switch is where talented people come together to EVOLVE the digital world.

We believe that innovation isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world’s most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.

The Role: Systems Administrator I

As a Systems Administrator I at Switch, you will administer and support enterprise technology systems after issues move beyond frontline Service Desk support. You will troubleshoot incidents, perform maintenance and production changes, and help keep assigned systems secure, available, and reliable. You will work independently on routine and moderately complex issues using established standards and procedures. You will elevate issues that require advanced expertise.

What You’ll Do
  • Administer, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot assigned enterprise systems, applications, and infrastructure services.
  • Provide Tier-2 support for incidents and service requests, maintaining ownership through resolution or appropriate escalation.
  • Diagnose system, application, authentication, connectivity, performance, capacity, and configuration issues.
  • Respond to monitoring alerts and service disruptions, take corrective action, and confirm service restoration.
  • Perform patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, certificate management, configuration changes, and other system maintenance.
  • Prepare, document, peer review, and execute routine production changes using established change-management procedures.
  • Use scripting, automation, and configuration-management tools to improve routine administrative work.
  • Support access management, security, audit, and compliance requirements for assigned systems.
  • Create and maintain technical procedures, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
  • Contribute technical work to implementations, migrations, and other technology projects.
  • Participate in the rotating on-call schedule and provide after-hours support for escalated incidents when required.
  • Maintain reliable transportation and be able to work onsite at a Switch data center when needed.
What We’re Looking For
  • You troubleshoot methodically and use logs, alerts, errors, and other diagnostic information to identify problems.
  • You make sound decisions within established procedures and know when an issue needs to be escalated.
  • You communicate technical information clearly and include the details others need to act.
  • You follow production, security, and change-management procedures consistently.
  • You take ownership of assigned work and follow issues through resolution.
  • You share useful documentation and technical knowledge with the team.
  • You work effectively with other IT teams, technical specialists, and vendors when an issue crosses areas of responsibility.
What You’ll Bring
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in systems administration, infrastructure operations, enterprise application administration, or a related technical area, or an equivalent combination of experience and technical training.
  • Hands‑on experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise technology in a production environment.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server and/or enterprise Linux.
  • Foundational knowledge of networking, identity and access management, virtualization, backup and recovery, monitoring, and information security.
  • Experience with relevant technologies such as Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID, DNS and DHCP, Microsoft 365 or Exchange, virtualization, enterprise backup and monitoring platforms, or certificate management.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, or another scripting or automation technology.
  • Familiarity with IT service management and production change-management practices.
  • Relevant technical education, training, or certifications are helpful but not required. This may include college coursework, technical school, military technical training, apprenticeships, vendor training, or industry certifications.
  • If your experience does not match every item above, we encourage you to apply if your background prepares you to perform the core responsibilities of the role.
