Job summary

Abacus Technology in Quantico, VA is seeking a Systems Administrator to provide proactive and reactive support for AFOSI IT infrastructure. The role includes managing Windows Server environments, AD, Group Policy, and network services for multiple enclaves on site.

Responsibilities include installation, patching, backup, RMF/STIG compliance, incident response, and collaboration with security teams to maintain readiness for classified operations. A TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

  • 3 years experience in systems administration in a Windows based environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field desired.
  • Must be certified at IAT Level II (e.g., Security+, or other certification satisfying DoD 8570). Microsoft certification a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows technologies, including Active Directory, Windows Administration, scripting, and Windows configuration techniques.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022; MS SQL Server 2016 and 2019; and VMware ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN, and Horizon.
  • Experience administering servers in a virtualized production environment using VMware vSphere 7.x or 8.x.

  • Create accounts and groups in Active Directory and manage Group Policy Objects.
  • Report on system uptime and SLA performance.
  • Audit server utilization.
  • Assist in RMF A&A packages for AFOSI enclaves.
  • Ensure compliance with DISA STIGs or Security Requirements Guidance.
  • Identify and report system risks.

Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Systems Administrator to provide technical support for the US Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) in Quantico. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, install, and maintain computer systems, including physical and virtual servers, storage area networks and network attached storage on five enclaves.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot server hardware.
  • Troubleshoot Domain Controllers.
  • Perform performance monitoring and tuning, upgrades and patching, backup and recovery, as well as troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Develop and maintain schedules and plans for system updates and patching.
  • Create accounts and groups in Active Directory and create and modify Group Policy Objects.
  • Report on system uptime and SLA performance.
  • Audit server utilization.
  • Assist in building, coordinating, maintaining, changing, and updating, the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment and Authorization (A&A) packages for the five enclaves administered by AFOSI.
  • Ensure that all application deliverables and systems comply with applicable DISA STIGs or Security Requirements Guidance.
  • Identify and report system risks.

  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining servers with Microsoft Windows.
  • Experience with rack mounted or blade server hardware.
  • Experience with Active Directory to include creating accounts and groups and navigating a domain tree.
  • Experience creating and modifying Group Policy Objects.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting DNS functions.
  • Knowledge of DHCP server functionality.
  • Experience troubleshooting Domain Controllers and familiarity with replication issues.
  • Experience with a trouble ticket system such as Remedy or ServiceNow.
  • Experience with security as it pertain to server infrastructure, desktops, laptops, servers, firewalls, routers, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
  • Experience with a backup solution, hands‑on experience with backup and restore procedures, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Must have experience with RMF and applying STIGs.
  • Working knowledge of IT Systems Maintenance Compliance processes to include information assurance vulnerability management (IAVM).
  • Experience creating, reviewing, and revising security documentation and artifacts.
  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals to include TCP/IP and sub‑nets desired.
  • Experience with Storage Area Networks desired.
  • Experience with DoD IT environment and networks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, analytical skills to troubleshoot issues, and an ability to conceptualize server infrastructures and configurations.
  • Must be a US citizen and hold a current Top Secret clearance with SCI access (TS/SCI).
