Job summary

Yale New Haven Health System is seeking a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Coordinator to provide leadership, coordination, and supervision of ACPE-accredited programs across Yale New Haven Health System. The role is responsible for curriculum development, program administration, faculty collaboration, and ensuring compliance with ACPE standards.

This is a system-wide position emphasizing vision, collaboration, and education within a diverse healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity or equivalent theological degree from an accredited institution.
• 5–10 years healthcare chaplaincy experience providing direct pastoral care.
• 3–5 years experience in CPE education and spiritual care within healthcare.
• Proven leadership in managing educational programs and supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee CPE programs (Levels I, II, and Certified Educator Candidate) across multiple delivery networks.
• Partner with the System Director and administrative staff to manage daily operations.
• Lead strategic planning and innovation for system-wide CPE initiatives.
• Develop and implement curriculum, preceptor training, and faculty professional development.
• Ensure compliance with ACPE accreditation standards.
• Teach, supervise, and mentor CPE students (Levels I, II, and Certified Educator Candidates).
• Evaluate student progress and facilitate interdisciplinary learning.
• Support clinical integration of spiritual care education into patient care teams.
• Develop curricula and educational resources to support student formation.
• Manage program budgets, admissions, onboarding, and scheduling.
• Collaborate with HR on recruitment, evaluation, and professional development of CPE staff.
• Maintain accurate records, portfolios, and reports for accreditation and internal review.
• Partner with chaplaincy teams, clinical staff, and leadership to strengthen integration of spiritual care.
• Represent CPE on system committees and initiatives.
• Promote the program through outreach, marketing, and community engagement.
