Ericsson in Austin, TX is seeking a technical leader for its Silicon Virtual Platform (SVP) team. You will guide the platform's direction, manage the Austin team, and serve as an Operative Product Owner alongside other OPOs.
The role emphasizes C++ development, SystemC/TLM modeling, and cross-team collaboration. The candidate brings hands-on C++, SystemC, and embedded Linux expertise, with a strong ability to translate software needs into platform priorities and drive timely delivery in a hybrid
Austin, Texas. Hybrid work schedule.
This is not a remote work opportunity.
Join Ericsson's Silicon team in Austin, where we develop virtual platforms that enable software development and testing before hardware is available.
Virtual prototyping is how software shifts left. Boot and OS bring-up, driver and firmware development, and regression can run against bit-wise accurate silicon models months before first samples. This allows hardware and software to be co-developed rather than developed sequentially, so ASIC bring-up starts with software that already works.
We build and maintain the System Virtual Platform (SVP), the simulator used across Ericsson Radio and Baseband development to reduce time to market. SVP models Ericsson hardware so software teams can begin development earlier in the cycle and run regression in Continuous Integration (CI) before and after silicon arrives. It is bit-wise accurate at the hardware/software interface, runs production binaries unmodified, and is built with SystemC and TLM.
Our virtual platform team in Austin is part of Silicon Systems within the Product Engineering Unit Silicon. The Austin and Sweden engineers operate as one virtual platform team, with shared architecture, priorities, and delivery commitments.
This is a technical leadership role with several dimensions: setting the technical direction for the platform, managing the Austin team, and acting as an Operative Product Owner (OPO) for SVP alongside the other OPOs.
Virtual platform, emulation, or RTL simulation experience in a production semiconductor program; DSP toolchains or baseband and radio software stacks; frameworks such as Arm Fast Models, QEMU, Wind River Simics, or Synopsys Virtualizer; third-party model and simulator supplier management; and Python or Bash scripting, Git, JIRA, and Jenkins.
Diversity and inclusion are core to our values at Ericsson, and collaboration across different experiences drives the innovation essential to our future growth. People from all backgrounds are welcome to apply and realize their full potential as part of our Ericsson team. Ericsson is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
