Summary

This position provides leadership by setting and maintaining standards of patient care and employee performance, ensuring the achievement of goals and objectives for the departments, and providing direction and management expertise to practice managers, senior managers, and directors. The Vice President participates with the governing body, administration, and medical staff in the organization's decision-making structure and processes, and shares responsibility for fulfilling the organization's mission. The Vice President is responsible for establishing productive working relationships with the medical staff and support staff, and for being responsive to community needs. Works closely with the MMG President, Service Line Leadership, MMG VPMAs, and, Market Presidents, Dyad Leadership.

Responsibilities
  • (25%) Oversight of practice managers, senior managers, and collaborates with MMG market directors in daily office operations. Provides financial performance oversite within practice operations. Recruit, develop, and evaluate performance of lead management personnel.
  • (25%) Coordinates activities with lead management team to identify and prioritize operational objectives and develop long range planning.
  • (25%) Responsible for the development and implementation of departmental programs, standards and policies. Will be responsible for all Rural Health Clinic activities.
  • (25%) Oversees responsibility for management reporting systems including budgetary, productivity, and quality assurance. Oversees preparation of annual department capital, operating, and staffing budgets. Responsible for budgetary concerns for capital equipment, volume, supplies, clinical materials and personnel. Conducts determination of need and cost benefit analyses for proposed new programs, equipment and service offering.
  • OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates community activities and events in conjunction with marketing, to promote growth and service.
  • Provides direction in analyzing and maintaining compliance with regulatory and legislative guidelines.
  • Participates in activities relating to physician recruitment and retention.
  • Assures the development of protocols that address ethical and legal issues that influence patient care.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the organization’s mission goals and objectives.
  • Designs an organizational structure and associated policies and programs that reflect utilization of available resources and responsiveness to the personal and professional development of staff.
  • Develops and/or approves policies and programs for the practices.
  • Encourages, provides and supports mechanisms for participation by staff in the strategic planning activities for MyMichigan Medical Group (MMG) and the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and programs.
  • Participates in the organization’s strategic planning activities and interprets the role of departments in the strategic plan.
  • Participates with other members of the administrative team in developing, implementing, and evaluating organization policies and programs related to the determination and allocation of financial, human, material and informational resources.
  • Participates in the establishment and maintenance of a financial plan for MMG that is economically feasible and assures patient safety, adequate resource allocation for the provision of care and supports the recruitment, retention and the development of a qualified staff.
  • Work with senior leadership to implement and maintain up to date physician compensation methodologies.
  • Encourages and supports the development of information systems essential to the provision of patient care through the allocation of human resources and equipment.
  • Participates in the development of educational and research policies and programs and supports cooperative efforts with other department, disciplines and agencies.
  • Works collaboratively with the medical staff to develop mutually agreed upon clinical programs of care.
  • Works collaboratively with nursing leadership to develop associated policies to address issues related to the provision of nursing.
  • Continuous professional development as demonstrated by self directed learning and participation in continuing education.
  • MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft® Windows. Employees are required to take a Computer Skills Assessment via the learning management system upon hire. Based on the results of the assessment, an employee may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.
Certifications and Licensures

Required Education

Masters Degree Required. Degree in healthcare, business, or finance preferred.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of management as normally acquired through five years of experience working in a medical practice or similar setting in a progression of management positions.
  • Leadership skills needed to effectively lead a team. Knowledge of current standards in a medical environment.
  • Written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact successfully with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization in order to share ideas, concepts and actions in a clear and understandable manner.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Physical Demand Level: Light. Must be able to occasionally (0 33% of the workday) lift or carry 11 20 lbs., frequently (34 66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
