Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Staff Software I&T Engineer – System Test Lead (Level 5) to join a team of highly qualified professionals in Redondo Beach, CA. You will define test plans, trace requirements, and ensure robust testing across containers, cloud services, and CI/CD pipelines.

You will collaborate with systems engineers, implement monitoring and logging, and participate in code reviews and test automation efforts. A Top Secret clearance is required for this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 12+ years of software engineering experience or a Master’s with 10+ years.
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance at application time and ability to obtain Special Program Access.
• Hands-on testing of containerized apps (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Experience testing systems using Kafka or similar message buses for asynchronous communication.
• Experience with test automation tools (TestComplete, Junit, Mockito, pytest, Catch2).
• Experience building automated tests in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Strong scripting for test automation (Python, JavaScript).
• Knowledge of test design techniques and source control (Git, Jira, Azure DevOps).

Responsibilities

• Define test plans and test cases with traceability to requirements and design.
• Verify reliability, ordering, and error handling in asynchronous workflows.
• Collaborate with systems engineers to translate mission requirements into software solutions.
• Implement and maintain cloud-deployed services with monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• Participate in code reviews, test automation efforts, and continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot issues across application, container, and cloud layers.
• Communicate effectively with developers, DevOps, and systems engineers.
