Job summary

Job description

System Reliability Test Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and validating Symbotic’s automated robotic systems, including Inbound and Outbound Adapter cells, Vertical Lifts, conveyors, and autonomous bots. The role requires expertise in mechanical, electrical/electronic, and pneumatic sub‑systems and provides support to commissioning, testing, and operations teams.

Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections on systems associated with the Automated Storage and Retrieval System of automated robotic vehicles and Automated Adapters/Lifts.
  • Support continuous operation by adjusting, calibrating, repairing, replacing, or modifying system components.
  • Use PLC troubleshooting, run SQL queries, and execute test plans with TestRail, Jira, SharePoint, or other collaboration tools.
  • Communicate schedule‑impacting problems and suggested actions, including estimated time for corrective and emergency maintenance, to required team members.
  • Clean up equipment and remove replaced parts from work areas after repairs.
  • Perform minor utility work such as machining holes, brackets; cutting steel; aligning sensors; attaching Unistrut; etc.
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, set up, and change tools on robotic arms.
  • Maintain continuous cleaning and adherence to 5S policies.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Symbotic, and customer safety commitments daily.
  • Assist in training and onboarding of team members as required.
  • Complete other duties assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience/certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in maintenance of mechanical systems and electro‑mechanical experience highly preferred.
  • Basic Excel and PowerPoint skills for importing datasets, creating charts, pivot tables, and applying filters.
  • Basic networking skills: understanding of IP addresses, finding MAC addresses, pinging, SSH into machines.
  • Advanced troubleshooting using CAD drawings, maintenance manuals, and user manuals.
  • Ability to work independently following procedures and manuals.
  • Capability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to immediate business needs.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Remote, field‑based position with up to 75% travel to client locations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive and/or fly to client sites.
  • Employee must own a credit card to manage and be reimbursed expenses bi‑weekly.
  • Regular walking, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and climbing to heights up to 45 feet; routine work at heights and in restricted spaces.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Compliance with lock‑out/tag‑out, fall protection, and other safety protocols.
  • PPE required on construction sites (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyewear, ear protection, fall protection harness).
  • Work may involve exposure to temperatures ranging from 32°F to 105°F and weather conditions.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary range: $71,000.00 – $97,900.00 (may vary based on experience).
