Job description

Position Overview

Coordination of the overall design and development of electrical axle systems throughout acquisition, initiation, opportunity, and product development phases. Accept or reject technical solutions of system elements and documentation from internal and external suppliers. Access all relevant technical data of sub‑projects. Provide deep knowledge of automotive systems engineering, project management of mechatronic products, ISO 26262/IEC 61508, ASPICE, and finance. Ensure high customer orientation, result focus, and quality assurance in design, testing, and validation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the system development team; approve subsystem technical solutions and drive system releases and deliveries.
  • Develop project plans and timelines to ensure timely delivery of system engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and objectives, gathering requirements to align project goals.
  • Coordinate system releases and deliveries, including planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to maintain high standards in project deliverables.
  • Coordinate the technical activities performed by the system development team (estimation, planning, task assignment, internal and external alignment, etc.).
  • Coordinate other disciplines if no Technical Project Manager is present.
  • Lead a development team in the field of electrical axle systems to achieve project development goals.
  • Lead a team to offer competitive solutions in quotation projects.
  • Plan, implement and document development‑related tasks in the project team.
  • Professionally manage customer inquiries, expectations and delivery.
  • Interface with the customer, provide technical reporting internally and externally.
  • Ensure production and assembly‑ready overall design and creation of installation space and assembly concepts.
  • Coordinate elaboration of development solutions, taking functional and design aspects into account.
  • Coordinate components and independently manage design reviews and releases.
  • Derive possible optimization measures from calculation and test results, controlling the product design and development in the project.
  • Monitor the DVP and compare it with the project plan.
  • Support creation of component specifications and design methods.
  • Support assessment of return parts in prototype and series stages.
  • Support quality assurance in defect analysis.
  • Independently develop lessons learned, complete projects, and share them with the team.
  • Travel to customers and suppliers in Germany and abroad.
  • Represent colleagues in the team.
  • Support product strategy, benchmarking and global business development.
  • Support supplier sourcing, product launch and quality problem solving.
  • Manage and optimize R&D cost, coordinate R&D resources.
  • Promote VAVE continuously.
  • Track advanced technologies and grasp market tech trends.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Graduate degree in Software Engineering, Natural Science, or Computer Science.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience.
  • Studies in electronic, mechanical engineering, mechatronics or a related degree (maximum four years).
  • Well‑founded knowledge and proven experience in the automotive area with several years in product development and design.
  • Experience in e‑drive applications and system knowledge for inverter, motor, gearbox, OBC, DC‑DC integration.
  • Experience in testing and validation.
  • Deep knowledge of automotive technology, especially in e‑Axle technology.
  • Knowledge of the ASPICE process in system development and the PEP product development process.
  • Methodological knowledge (FMEA, TRIZ, brainstorming, value analysis).
  • Knowledge of product liability and warranty in product development.
  • Awareness of ISO 26262/IEC 61508 and support for FuSaf activities, audits and assessments.
  • Knowledge of finance and of quality tools.
  • Leadership experience and assertiveness; specific knowledge in negotiation techniques, conflict management, moderation and intercultural behavior.
  • High customer orientation, result and goal orientation.
  • Dynamic, flexible, resilient, assertive, with a high degree of creativity.
  • Independent, analytical, structural way of working and strong communication skills, enthusiasm and persuasiveness.
