Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Indiana Pharmacy Technician License required.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) required.
  • 5-7 years of pharmacy experience.
  • Proficient Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience with Office suites and business apps.
  • Ability to work independently within procedures.
  • No criminal history related to drug offenses.

System Pharmacy Purchasing Analyst
Overview

At IU Health, we are looking for individuals who are passionate about improving patient care through operational excellence, collaboration, and innovation. This role serves as a critical link between Pharmacy Operations, System Pharmacy Logistics and Purchasing, and key pharmacy stakeholders to support product management, inventory optimization, and value analysis initiatives across the health system.

Position Summary

The System Pharmacy Purchasing Analyst contributes to the achievement of organizational clinical, financial, and service goals through the application of pharmacy operational expertise, material resource management, and change management principles.

This role supports value analysis activities, product utilization reviews, and product change management processes while serving as a liaison between System Pharmacy Logistics & Purchasing and pharmacy operations. The specialist will collaborate with IU Health Compounding, Pharmacy Central Distribution, IU Health Medical Group Clinics, Lifeline, Homecare, and other pharmacy stakeholders to identify opportunities that improve financial performance, operational efficiency, patient outcomes, and clinical effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and participate in established pharmacy value analysis processes.
  • Conduct product utilization reviews and support implementation of product changes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between System Pharmacy Logistics & Purchasing and pharmacy operations.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy stakeholders to identify opportunities for operational improvement and cost savings.
  • Research, analyze, and recommend product alternatives that improve clinical, operational, and financial outcomes.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Create and manage purchase orders for pharmacy inventory and supplies.
  • Work directly with suppliers to source products and resolve ordering issues.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice holds and purchasing discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate purchase order records and updates.
  • Support inventory continuity and product availability across supported pharmacy operations.
  • Lead and support change management initiatives related to pharmacy products and supply chain operations.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Indiana Pharmacy Technician License.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or equivalent).
  • 5-7 years of relevant pharmacy experience.
  • Full proficiency as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and business applications.
  • Ability to work independently within established procedures under limited supervision.
  • No criminal history related to drug offenses.
Preferred
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in pharmacy purchasing, inventory management, supply chain, value analysis, compounding operations, or centralized pharmacy services.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers and vendor representatives.
  • Knowledge of healthcare supply chain, procurement, and contract management processes.
