Job summary

System Engineer

Yazoo Valley Electric Power Association is seeking a qualified Substation Engineer to assist with the planning, design, coordination, maintenance support, and long-term reliability of the Association's substations and electrical infrastructure. Responsibilities include substation design and upgrades, system planning, protective relay coordination, troubleshooting electrical system issues, load and power studies, project coordination, contractor oversight, and supporting overall system reliability and operations.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Experience in electric utilities, substations, power systems, or electrical infrastructure is preferred. Candidates should possess strong technical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation

Abilities and Skills

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documents, electrical schematics, safety manuals, and other job-related materials. Ability to prepare reports and communicate technical information effectively.

Physical Requirements
