Yakshna Solutions, Inc. in Herndon, VA is seeking a System Engineer to support Windows and Linux environments, cloud infrastructure, DevOps deployments, and virtualization.

The role collaborates with software development and IT teams to maintain development, test, and production infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on admin experience across Windows/Linux, experience with Azure DevOps, Docker, and AWS, plus strong scripting and networking skills.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of hands-on system administration, cloud, or DevOps experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments.
• Hands-on experience administering Linux operating systems (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS).
• Experience with Azure DevOps: repositories, pipelines, builds, releases, and deployments.
• Experience hosting web apps with IIS, Apache, or Nginx.
• Experience deploying and maintaining applications with Docker.
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ports, routing, firewalls, VPNs, SSL/TLS.
• Experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, Route 53).
• Experience with virtualization (VMware, Proxmox).
• Security tooling: firewalls, endpoint protection, vulnerability management.
• Scripting: PowerShell or Bash.
• Ability to document configurations and procedures.

Responsibilities

YSI is seeking a System Engineer with hands-on experience supporting Windows and Linux environments, cloud infrastructure, application hosting, DevOps deployments, virtualization, and IT security systems. The candidate will work with our software development and IT teams to maintain development, test, production, and corporate infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux-based systems.
• Monitor servers, applications, services, storage, CPU, memory, and system performance and troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues.
• Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Support website and web application hosting environments, including IIS, Apache, and Nginx.
• Configure and maintain SSL/TLS certificates, DNS records, application bindings, and web server configurations.
• Support deployment and maintenance of web applications across development, test, UAT, and production environments.
• Work with Azure DevOps repositories, pipelines, build/release processes, and deployment workflows.
• Support CI/CD deployments and troubleshoot build and deployment failures.
• Build, deploy, and maintain containerized applications using Docker and Docker Compose.
• Administer and support AWS cloud environments, including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, Route 53, load balancers, security groups, and related services.
• Provision, configure, monitor, resize, patch, back up, and maintain AWS virtual machines and supporting infrastructure.
• Administer virtualized environments using technologies such as VMware and Proxmox.
• Create, configure, clone, snapshot, back up, restore, and monitor virtual machines.
• Support and maintain corporate and server security solutions, including firewalls, endpoint protection, antivirus/anti-malware, web filtering, and related security tools.
• Monitor security alerts and coordinate investigation and remediation of endpoint, server, and network security issues.
• Assist with vulnerability remediation, operating system hardening, patch management, and security configuration.
• Manage user and system access, permissions, service accounts, and administrative privileges based on organizational security requirements.
• Support backup, recovery, system availability, and disaster recovery activities.
• Maintain infrastructure and system documentation, including configurations, deployment procedures, troubleshooting guides, and inventory.
• Work closely with software developers to troubleshoot application, server, network, database connectivity, and deployment-related issues.
• Perform routine system health checks and proactively identify infrastructure and security issues.
• Provide technical support and participate in troubleshooting and incident resolution as needed

Required Skills And Experience

• Working knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ports, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and SSL/TLS.
• Experience administering AWS environments and services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, Route 53, RDS, security groups, and load balancers.
• Experience working with virtualization technologies such as VMware and/or Proxmox.
• Experience supporting security technologies such as firewalls, endpoint protection, antivirus/anti-malware, and vulnerability management tools.
• Experience with server patching, system upgrades, monitoring, backup, and recovery.
• Basic scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
