Abbott Molecules division in Des Plaines, IL seeks a System Engineer for the On-Market Instrument Support team. The role focuses on refurbishment of high-cost parts for reuse and supporting on-market improvements, with test protocol creation and execution on site in Des Plaines.

Responsibilities include ensuring project progress, meeting goals, and providing guidance on technical reliability issues within the AMD Molecular division.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years of related work experience, or a Master's with 0-2 years.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Des Plaines, IL location in the Molecular Division. Abbott Molecular is a leader in molecular diagnostics and the analysis of DNA, RNA, and proteins at the molecular level. We have an exciting opportunity for a System Engineer within our Engineering team on site in Des Plaines. As part of the On-Market Instrument Support team for Alinity m, the System Engineer will primarily focus on refurbishment projects intended to repair and reuse high-cost parts. Additionally, the System Engineer will support, contribute and execute on-market improvements, create and execute test protocols. This position will ensure that projects progress as planned, meet their goals and requirements and provide guidance to technical reliability issues.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years of related work experience with a good understanding of specified functional area, or Master's degree with 0-2 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices and procedures. General understanding of business unit/group function. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Has a broad knowledge of technical alternatives and an understanding of their impact on the systems environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical or similar engineering function
  • Experience in regulated industry.

Compensation & Other Details

The base pay for this position is $61,300.00 – $122,700.00
