Job summary

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. seeks an experienced System Engineer to support the C-SAR program in Colorado Springs, CO. You will help with requirements analysis, system design, and documentation while collaborating with developers, test teams, and customer staff.

You will participate in design reviews, risk analysis, and system integration tasks, traveling as needed for conferences and meetings. A TS clearance and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years engineering experience.
• BS in SE, CS, EE, ME, or other engineering equivalent.
• Current, active Secret security clearance.
• Complete knowledge of Agile methodology.
• Support programs through SRR, PDR, CDR or equivalent design reviews.
• Familiarity with virtualization, cloud deployment and containerization (CNFs).
• Ability to articulate technical concepts orally and in writing to teams and customers.
• Strong written and oral communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Support C-SAR System Engineering team to ensure contractual requirements and deliverables.
• Perform technical studies and analysis for future design reviews.
• Participate in CDRLs generation and deliveries per schedule.
• Apply SecDevOps processes and Agile practices (Atlassian suite).
• Decompose requirements and analyze system design.
• Develop system design and architecture; update documentation.
• Provide technical advice on architectures to customers and users.
• Deliver presentations to customers and internal teams on design reviews and status.

This System Engineeringposition is an exciting opportunity responsible for task order execution in support of the highly successful Command and Control Consolidated System supporting the C-SAR program based in Colorado Springs, CO.The successful candidate, as part of our engineering team, will work with our management, product, and IR&D teams to help create strategic technical visions. Additionally, they will support requirements analysis, system design, reliability analysis, system hardware/software integration, risk management, and system documentation generation/updates. The candidate will work closely with system developers, test, and on-site user support personnel to support system updates, and ensure project objectives are met.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Supporting the C-SAR System Engineering team to ensure all engineering contractual requirements and deliverables are met.
• Perform studies and capture technical analysis in support future design reviews
• Participate in CDRLs generation and deliveries based on customer prescribed schedule
• SecDevOps processes and related Agile practices (Atlassian suite)
• Requirement’s decomposition and analysis
• System design and architecture
• System documentation generation and updates
• Provide technical advice to our customers on architectures and potential solutions
• Developand deliver effective customer presentations (support design reviews, statusreports, kickoff meetings, test plans) demonstrating an ability to communicate comfortably at a system level
• Attend and supporthighly technical engineering team meetings
• Travel as necessary to attend conferences and customer meetings

Experience and Skills

• 5+ years engineering experience
• BS in SE, CS, EE, ME, or other engineering equivalent
• Current, active Secret security clearance
• Complete knowledge of Agile methodology
• Support programs through SRR, PDR, CDR or equivalent design reviews
• Familiarity with modern IT infrastructure capabilities to include virtualization, cloud deployment and containerization (CNFs)
• Candidate must be self-motivated and comfortable with supporting multiple groups of developers, engineers, and testers.
• Candidate must be able to articulate technical concepts orally and in written forms both internally to the team as well as externally to the customer and users.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Working knowledge of space systems, including ground systems, satellite command and control, and system development processes is a plus.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with SCN
• Experience with AWS / Azure / cloud architecture
• Experience with SecDevOps processes
• Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF)
• Familiarity with Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) is a plus.
• Model-Based Systems Engineering using Cameo or Enterprise Architect
• Familiarity with modern IT infrastructure capabilities to include virtualization, cloud deployment and containerization (CNFs)
• Security+ certification is not required but is beneficial to the position.

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Competitive salary based on experience and education
Salary Range: $120,000-$160,000
