Job summary

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. seeks a System Engineer for the C-SAR program in Colorado Springs.

You will support requirements analysis, system design, and documentation across a multi-disciplinary team, interfacing with developers, testers, and on-site customer staff. The role requires a Secret clearance, systems-level communication skills, and experience with Agile practices, SecDevOps, and modern IT infrastructure including virtualization and cloud deployment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years engineering experience.
• BS in SE, CS, EE, ME, or other engineering equivalent.
• Current, active Secret security clearance.
• Complete knowledge of Agile methodology.
• Support programs through SRR, PDR, CDR or equivalent design reviews.
• Familiarity with IT infrastructure capabilities including virtualization, cloud deployment and CNFs.
• Self-motivated and able to support multiple teams of developers, engineers, and testers.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of space systems, including ground systems, satellite command and control.

Responsibilities

• Support the C-SAR System Engineering team to ensure all engineering contractual requirements and deliverables are met.
• Perform studies and capture technical analysis for future design reviews.
• Participate in CD RLs generation and deliveries per customer schedule.
• Adhere to SecDevOps processes and Agile practices (Atlassian tools).
• Decompose and analyze requirements.
• Design system architecture and overall system design.
• Generate and update system documentation.
• Provide technical advice on architectures and potential solutions.
• Develop and deliver customer presentations for design reviews, status reports, and test plans.
• Attend and support highly technical engineering team meetings.
• Travel as necessary to conferences and customer meetings.

This System Engineering position is an exciting opportunity responsible for task order execution in support of the highly successful Command and Control Consolidated System supporting the C-SAR program based in Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate, as part of our engineering team, will work with our management, product, and IR&D teams to help create strategic technical visions. Additionally, they will support requirements analysis, system design, reliability analysis, system hardware/software integration, risk management, and system documentation generation/updates. The candidate will work closely with system developers, test, and on-site user support personnel to support system updates, and ensure project objectives are met.

• Develop and deliver effective customer presentations (support design reviews, status reports, kickoff meetings, test plans) demonstrating an ability to communicate comfortably at a system level


• Attend and support highly technical engineering team meetings


• Travel as necessary to attend conferences and customer meetings

Experience And Skills

• 5+ years engineering experience


• BS in SE, CS, EE, ME, or other engineering equivalent


• Current, active Secret security clearance


• Complete knowledge of Agile methodology


• Support programs through SRR, PDR, CDR or equivalent design reviews


• Familiarity with modern IT infrastructure capabilities to include virtualization, cloud deployment and containerization (CNFs)


• Candidate must be self‑motivated and comfortable with supporting multiple groups of developers, engineers, and testers.


• Candidate must be able to articulate technical concepts orally and in written forms both internally to the team as well as externally to the customer and users.


• Excellent written and oral communications skills.


• Working knowledge of space systems, including ground systems, satellite command and control, and system development processes is a plus.

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Experience with SCN


• Experience with AWS / Azure / cloud architecture


• Experience with SecDevOps processes


• Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF)


• Familiarity with Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) is a plus.


• Model-Based Systems Engineering using Cameo or Enterprise Architect


• Familiarity with modern IT infrastructure capabilities to include virtualization, cloud deployment and containerization (CNFs)


• Security+ certification is not required but is beneficial to the position.

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Competitive salary based on experience and education
Salary Range: $120,000-$160,000
