Job summary

A technology company is seeking a self-starter for a role focused on power optimization and performance analysis of PC systems in Austin, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience or a Master's with 3 years in roles like Systems Developer or BIOS/Driver Developer. Responsibilities include measuring system power, full stack analysis, and managing projects with regular updates. A strong understanding of x86 architecture and OS/BIOS interactions is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working on at least 2 projects from development through validation.

Job Duties

Measurement & Analysis of various PC system devices with an emphasis on platform and device power and performance observations, analysis, & debug; expected requirement includes full stack analysis, e.g., OS enablement, vendor driver enablement, benchmark requirements. Light Project Management for multiple devices & regular status readouts included.

Expectations

A thorough understanding of PC industry standard busses, e.g., PCIe, LPC, USB is required in addition to detailed knowledge of x86 and chipset architectures and Windows OS process/thread analysis tools. Further requirements include a strong understanding of BIOS, OS and Driver interactions at the system and device level. The role requires a self starter with the ability to translate ambiguity into action.

Preferred Experience and Education

Bachelors plus 5 years of experience, or Masters plus 3 years of experience is desired; Experience as a Systems Developer, BIOS/Driver Developer, or Systems Debug Engineer with experience at a computer hardware company working on at least 2 projects from development through bring-up and validation, and supported through the release to production.
