Job description

Description

Would you like to implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve the world's most complex technical problems? Do you have a deep passion and desire to engineer and operate the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure to build a better world for future generations?

This is an exciting opportunity to use the latest cloud computing technologies to help U.S. Government agencies implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems.

AWS established a specialized group of service teams responsible for the work we are doing with the U.S. Intelligence Community. We are building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world, and we need adaptable people to help us implement and operate them.

We are seeking a Systems Development Engineer who can think big and simplify solutions to complex problems, all while ensuring our customers continue to have the best experience possible!

A successful Systems Development Engineer joining the team will be an innovator, building solutions and working closely with Amazon's largest and most demanding government customers to address their specific needs across a suite of Cloud Computing and Governance environments. They will drive the resolution of technical issues and work diligently to improve the customer experience.

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Solid foundation in Linux and networking fundamentals. The ideal candidate brings deep, hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems, ideally within large-scale, distributed environments where reliability and performance are critical. You understand networking technology and how servers and networks inter-relate.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operations, system design and architecture. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience building and operating large-scale, distributed systems. They possess a strong understanding of networking fundamentals and how servers and network infrastructure interact to deliver reliable services at scale. You are comfortable facilitating deep-dive troubleshooting and leading technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.
  • Think Big. The ideal candidate will design, deploy, monitor, and automate infrastructure, tools and systems to provide a highly-available and resilient platform for our customers' and our team's workloads.
