AWS established a specialized group of service teams responsible for the work we are doing with the U.S. Intelligence Community. We are building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world, and we need adaptable people to help us implement, operate, and enhance them.

We are seeking a Systems Development Engineer who can thing big and simplify solutions to complex problems, all while ensuring our customers continue to have the best experience possible! This position is focused on compliance and governance solutions through AWS CloudTrail and customer experience, through AWS Service Quotas.

A successful Systems Development Engineer joining the team will be an innovator, building solutions and working closely with Amazon's largest and most demanding government customers to address their specific needs across a suite of Cloud Computing and Governance environments. They will drive the resolution of technical issues and work diligently to improve the customer experience.

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities

• Solid foundation in Linux and networking fundamentals. The ideal candidate brings deep, hands‑on experience administering and troubleshooting Linux‑based systems, ideally within large-scale, distributed environments where reliability and performance are critical. They possess a strong understanding of networking fundamentals and how servers and network infrastructure interact to deliver reliable services at scale.
• Demonstrated expertise in system design and architecture. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands‑on experience building and operating production systems.
• Experience deep-diving Operational issues, leading technical post‑mortem analysis and discussions to identify the root cause and corrective actions of complex issues.
• Think Big. The ideal candidate will design, deploy, monitor, and automate infrastructure, tools and systems to provide a highly‑available and resilient platforms for our customers' and our team's workloads.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
