Job description

Overview

Amazon Robotics is looking for an experienced System Development Engineer to join our Imperium Network Device Lifecycle Management team in Austin. In this role you will be solving challenging problems and developing scalable, high‑performing solutions that require minimal long‑term sustaining and development. Our team is accountable for software managing the lifecycle of network devices in global fulfillment centers; our systems span over 100,000 Amazonians and hundreds of thousands of IP‑enabled devices.

In this role, you will partner with peer Software, System and Network Engineers globally to develop simple and efficient technology that enables Amazon’s fulfillment network. You will work with a wide variety of technologies and projects that range from third‑party enterprise solutions to open source and proprietary inventions. Technicians and Engineers worldwide will look to you for mentorship, guidance and solutions to complex business problems that are truly unique to Amazon. We value performance, simplicity, and scalability in our designs. In your day‑to‑day work you will focus on automation of complex tasks to allow our business to scale with customer demand, and let your fellow network engineers focus on complex problems rather than mundane tasks.

Key job responsibilities

As a System Development Engineer at Amazon, you will take your technical experience to create new and enhance existing frameworks for managing network device lifecycle at Amazon fulfillment centers, such as new device provisioning or software updates. These critical frameworks will make it faster and easier for customers to manage these devices at scale. If you have a passion for network management applications, and making generic toolkits, this is an ideal position for you. This role will allow you to push the boundaries by thinking big of what customers can do by driving efficient and scalable solutions. You will be challenged to create OS‑agnostic services and tools, while also optimizing for performance and ease of use by customers.

Ideal candidates will use their experience to clearly communicate and translate requirements into elegant solutions. You will work in a reactive, flexible and partnering peer environment.

A day in the life

You will be a part of an agile development team following innovative best practices in software development where you will work on technical designs, architecture and coding. To build our applications, you will interact with network engineering teams to gather requirements, provide technical solutions and develop the software that are required in defining our next generation products.

Amazon offers a full range of benefits that assist you and eligible family members, including domestic partners. Benefits can vary by location, the number of regularly scheduled hours you work, length of employment, and job status such as seasonal or temporary employment. 1. Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
  2. Maternity and Parental Leave Options
  3. Paid Time Off (PTO)
