Job description

As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, networks, and related infrastructure within a cloud‑based environment. Your primary focus will be ensuring the integrity and security of data, maintaining network access, and managing system backups. You will collaborate with other IT professionals to optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement new solutions that support the organization’s evolving needs.

This particular role will be fully dedicated to one customer site in Chicago, IL. As the AGFA representative, this Systems Administrator will develop a comprehensive understanding of the clients workflows, priorities, and technical ecosystem, enabling faster issue resolution, enhanced communication, and a highly personalized support experience. They will act as a trusted advisor and primary technical liaison, they will collaborate closely with clinical, operational, IT and leadership stakeholders to ensure optimal product experience. This model provides seamless access to AGFA expertise while fostering a strategic partnership focused on operational excellence, system reliability, and long‑term success throughout the partnership

Additionally, Systems Administrators are often involved in system upgrades, backups, disaster recovery planning and actions, and implementing security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and malware attacks. Flexible hours are required at times and could involve adjusted start times, after business hours, and potential weekend work. They may also collaborate with other IT professionals, internal or external, such as network engineers and software developers, to integrate systems and optimize performance.

A technically strong, strategically minded, relationship‑driven professional who can operate comfortably in a clinical environment, build trust, communicate clearly, and proactively drive system excellence.

What You'll Do:

  • System Maintenance: Regularly monitor and track system performance and ensure all systems operate efficiently. Maintain a record of tracked performance records and system impactful events. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, patches, and system upgrades.
  • Network Management: Manage and maintain network infrastructure to the level allowed by the customer contract. Troubleshoot and collaborate with customer resources for network issues and ensure network security protocols are up to date.
  • Data Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data from unauthorized access, viruses, and other security threats. Monitor security logs, conduct regular security audits, and verify adherence to customer and AGFA policies.
  • User Support: Provide technical support and assistance to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues. Respond to help desk tickets in a timely manner, resolve problems effectively, and ensure escalations are initiated when needed.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime in the event of system failures or disasters. Test backup systems regularly to ensure reliability.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, network diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures. Keep documentation up to date as systems evolve.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information
  • 5-7 Years Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role, with a strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and IT infrastructure.
  • 2+ Years of Linux Administration
  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role, with a strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and IT infrastructure in a Cloud environment.
  • Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux), networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools, backup and recovery solutions, and security systems (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex technical problems and implement effective solutions.
  • This role is deeply relational, strategic , and embedded in a clinical environment. There must be a blend of Business Acumen and High Level Soft Skills that go beyond the traditional technical skills.
  • Ability to understand clinical workflows, imaging operations, and how PACS/Enterprise Imaging impacts patient care.
  • Awareness of regulatory and compliance considerations (HIPAA, data governance, uptime requirements).
  • Ability to connect technical decisions to RUSH's broader operational and clinical priorities.
  • Understanding how system performance affects throughput, clinician satisfaction, and patient outcomes.
  • Skill in navigating relationships with clinical leaders, IT leadership, operations managers, and AGFA corporate teams.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and communicate tradeoffs clearly.
  • Comfort supporting upgrades, migrations, and workflow redesigns.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and communicate changes with minimal disruption.
  • Focus on user satisfaction, adoption, and long‑term partnership.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and proactively prevent issues.
