CSCC is looking for a dymanic System Administrator II,Virtualization. This position is a high-level professional positionresponsible for virtual server and desktop environments. Thisposition will perform technical activities related to supportingthe CSCC virtualization environments which includes designing,implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the environments.This role may require limited project leadership duties and is thesubject matter expert for their assigned systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Systems Administration
- Performs specialized duties involved in the planning,installation, configuration, operation, development, modification,maintenance, and repair of virtualized systems, software, andapplications. Installs and configures physical servers, includingoperating systems, software applications, and tools.
- Designs, builds, operates, and maintains virtualizationinfrastructure in
- accordance with the College’s needs and recommended bestpractices. Assures minimum service interruptions by analyzingperformance, scalability and availability of resources. Developsstrategies for, and completes performance tuning of, Collegemission-critical virtualization systems. Analyzes, tests, andtroubleshoots assigned systems.
- Maintains confidentiality of any information accessed,received, processed, viewed, etc., within the College’s systems,storage, office spaces or other areas utilized within the ITdepartment.
- Required to serve on On-Call/On-Duty rotations for after-hourssupport, 24/7 availability.
Support & Reporting
- Performs Tier 3 troubleshooting and serves as an escalationpoint for any issues Tier 1&2 support are unable to resolve.Schedules system downtime with end users and technical staffmembers to facilitate hardware and software changes following CSCCchange management procedures.
- Documents solutions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) toensure services are delivered in an effective and efficient mannerfor assigned and related areas of responsibility. Ensures policies,procedures, rules, and regulations are being met and followedaccording to College practices.
- Understands and documents the technical requirements for newservices or service enhancements. Advises on technologicaldecisions and provides service implementation estimates.
- Supports the overall operations of assigned environments,ensuring they meet requirements and performance goals. Identifiesreusable/preconfigured service components or standard products fromthe market to leverage and assemble the service/solution. Worksclosely with appropriate stakeholders to ensure implementationmeets design requirements.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Attends all required department meetings and training.
- Required to serve on On-Call/On-Duty rotations for after-hourssupport, 24/7 availability.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency.
- At least three (3) years of progressively responsibletechnical experience managing virtualization environments
An appropriate combination of education, training,coursework and experience may qualify acandidate.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of: server and desktop virtualization usingVMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, and Microsoft Hyper-V; enterpriseSAN systems; networking as it relates to virtualization; serverhardware monitoring and troubleshooting; Business Continuity &Disaster Recovery; server and desktop operating systems andmanagement; system monitoring and logging
- Skilled in: verbal and written communication; operatingjob equipment; planning, scheduling and organizing work; generaltyping; application of job software programs; application oftechnical skills in area of specialization.
