Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory is seeking a scientist to advance AI and machine learning for synchrotron data acquisition and analysis at NSLS-II. The role sits in the Data Science and Systems Integration group, collaborating with beamline teams and users globally.

The position focuses on developing innovative ML algorithms, organizing data standards, and disseminating AI knowledge to sponsors and researchers in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field such as Physics, Biology or CS.
• Demonstrated ability to work in large multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML-based algorithms for data acquisition and online processing.
• Organize data and metadata standards and distribute tools for NSLS-II results.
• Conduct original ML research for synchrotron applications with NSLS-II programs.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, user groups and sponsors to share AI/ML knowledge.
