Job summary

Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School is seeking an Inclusion Associate (Dedicated Aide/Paraprofessional) to collaborate with lead teachers and support students with IEPs. The role focuses on behavioral and academic support to help students achieve long-term independence.

The position reports to the Director of Student Services and requires bilingual English/Spanish abilities, an associate degree or equivalent, and at least one year of experience working with children in an urban setting.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 48 college credits or Paraprahsis PRAXIS exam completed.
• At least 1 year of direct work with children aged 3-12.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
• Experience in urban school setting; familiarity with Responsive Classroom.

Responsibilities

• Support environments and instructional opportunities for the assigned student.
• Provide behavioral and/or academic supports per the student's IEP.
• Implement IEP-based strategies consistently.
• Gather and maintain academic/behavioral data; keep notes.
• Inform classroom team and families of progress and challenges.

Job Details: Job Location: Washington, DC 20017, Salary Range: $20.00 - $24.00 Hourly, Job Overview: The Inclusion Associate (Dedicated Aide/Paraprofessional) is a member of the Student Services Team. They work in collaboration with lead classroom teachers to support students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The student assigned to the Dedicated Aide/Inclusion Associate/Dedicated Aide/Paraprofessional remain the primary responsibility of the classroom teacher; the Aide is present to provide behavioral and/or academic support to his/her assigned student's overall educational outcomes and to facilitate the assigned student's long-term independence.

Reports To: The Inclusion Associate (Dedicated Aide/Paraprofessional) reports directly to the Director of Student Services.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Supports the creation of environments and instructional opportunities that meet the needs of the assigned student
• Provides behavioral and/or academic supports to assigned student's
• Consistently implements behavioral and academic strategies outlined in the assigned student's IEP
• Gathers and maintains academic and behavioral data; maintains anecdotal notes
• Keeps other members of the classroom teaching team, appropriate service providers, and families informed of progress and challenges regarding the student
• Collaborates with the teaching team to evaluate instructional effectiveness and to modify instructional approaches based on feedback
• l restraint, as approApplies the principles of crisis prevention intervention and implements passive physicapriate
• Actively participates in professional development opportunities provided and seeks out additional professional development
• Maintains confidentiality and treats all information about children and their families in strictest confidence

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 48 college credits or passed the Paraprofessional PRAXIS Exam required.
• At least 1 year of direct work with children aged 3-12 years old required.
• Bilingual English and Spanish are strongly preferred.
• Experience in an urban school setting and familiarity with Responsive Classroom.

Other Job Details

• Schedule: 8 hour day, 8am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday
• Location: Network position meaning will serve students at either Cook Campus or Calle 8 Campus
• Position Type: This is a 10-month salaried position which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act
• Employment subject to TB test, fingerprinting and background check
