ConGlobal Industries LLC in Stockton is hiring a Railroad Switchman to move railcars safely in our terminal. This hands-on role requires strength, attention to safety, and the ability to operate outdoors across weather conditions.

You will monitor track switches, inspect rail conditions, couple and uncouple air hoses, and communicate with train crews. A valid driver’s license is required, and open availability for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of rail experience desired.
• Switching or conductor experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must pass pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
• Open availability for all shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate track switches to ensure proper alignment for railcar movement.
• Inspect track conditions and switch points to identify issues affecting safety.
• Couple and uncouple air hoses between railcars during train assembly/disassembly.
• Replace damaged railcar connectors (approximately 75 lbs).
• Communicate with train crews and yard personnel to coordinate movements.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear PPE.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings in a high-traffic rail environment.

As a Railroad Switchman at ConGlobal, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient movement of railcars within our terminal. You'll be responsible for monitoring and aligning track switch points, inspecting track conditions, and safely coupling and uncoupling railcars. This hands‑on role requires physical strength, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to operational safety.

• Communicate with train crews and yard personnel to ensure coordinated rail movements.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and potential hazards in a high-traffic rail environment.

Required Qualifications

• 2-3 years of rail experience desired

• Ability to always follow safety requirements and practices
• Reliable, punctual and a strong work ethic
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 75lbs
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars
• Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
  • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.

• Previous experience in rail yard or switching operations.
• Familiarity with rail safety protocols and procedures.
• Training in railcar or track maintenance is a plus.
